The filmmaker's initial cut of "Marie" was under 2 minutes but the storyline lacked clarity. Feedback confirmed it wasn't clear who the characters were running from. To address this, the filmmaker shot additional footage from the antagonist's point of view to establish they were being chased. These new shots also allowed lengthening the opening sequence and overlaying subtitles without black screens to make it look more professional.

1. My initial rough cut of ‘Marie’ was just under 2 minutes. However, I felt that
the storyline wasn’t clear enough.
The feedback I received proved that it wasn’t very clear who Marie and Lilly
are running from, if from anyone at all. Therefore, I went back to the
location and shot some POV shots from the antagonist’s point of view, as if
they were looking for and chasing Marie and Lilly.
I also used these shots to make my opening sequence longer so that I could
overlay the subtitles on the clips instead of a black screen. I received a few
comments about the black screens making it look amateurish and as I
wanted to make my opening sequence look as professional as possible, I
wanted to change this.
