Services providing assessments regarding levels of cognitive and adaptive ability,

As Prinicpal Clinical Psychologist within the team my casework routinely involves
vulnerable adults subject to safeguarding proceedings and also working with those who
are involved with child protection proceedings. I have a particular c linical interest in
those with learning disability who are developing dementia-type illnesses, their
assessment and subsequent treatment, with particular reference to the Mental Capacity
Act and the Deprivation of Liberties legislation.
My day to day work involves formulating complex cases from a psychological perspective
in order to advise regarding future therapeutic interventions both directly for the
individual and ways in which agencies can best engage with the client. This will involve
decisions regarding what needs to be in place for changes to occur and the client’s
motivation to change. My recent training in Positive Behavioural Support has provided
me with further tools to assess and advise systems around a service user regarding
behavioural difficulties.
For full details of work history please refer to the attached Appendix.
REPORTS
I have submitted reports to the local authority, law enforcement agencies, continuing
healthcare boards and employment agencies.
