Preliminary Task Evaluation
• The task overall was good by the book, we
didn’t break any rules and managed to abide by
the standards set, We had the scene progress,
someone walked in, sat down, we exchanged a
few bits of dialogue and ended, we edited the
video appropriately and we made sure we was
true to the 180 degree rule etc.
• Obstacles and issues- we had a few things to overcome, one
was the furniture, the room we was in had lots of tables in
and we had to awkwardly manoeuvre the camera in order to
get the right angles and keep to the rules, but we
persevered! We had the issue of also finding an appropriate
room to film in during the time we had, this caused a few
logistical problems as we all had different free lessons and
when we was all together we were hard put to actually find
a room, however we did find one and we again managed to
pull it off! The last issue we had was the editing, we were
put to our limits in order to find the best software to edit
together our video, there were hardly any computers in the
school that would do it, but we eventually managed to find
one and put together the final piece.
• Improvements- in order to improve, we needed to find a more
soundproof room, we noticed when watching it back that there
was a fair bit of background noise that invades the clip, also we
didn’t have much dialogue, one of the characters talks for about
0.4 seconds all together, not imputing a lot so we could have a
larger script, could of found a bigger room, it was very hard
getting the right angles while at the same time keeping our
balance and not falling over, and the lighting was very bright so we
could tone it down with blinds or curtains for a better quality
image. The door nearly hit the camera at the start which if it did,
would of led to a funny but expensive accident, we need to do
better editing, we had never done it before and as you can tell
through the video, we aren’t the best. Also due to time constraints
we was unable to film the entire thing in one sitting, hence the
last scene where the person is walking out, he has had a haircut
and the room looks different.
• Tutorials- I used a couple of camera
tutorials to help with the task, so it
would look professionally done, these
were

• Lessons learned- To find a large room with a good level
of lighting, plan everything ahead so we don’t run out
of time, keep the scene the same through out to avoid
any continuity issues and to have a larger and better
script for a good dialogue, also to watch a few more
tutorials so the video will have better looks and the
editing will be much smoother allowing for a
professional look all over.
