This presentation was given to the Mayor's' Instituter on City Design in December 2013. It highlights the Memorial Drive Redevelopment Program in Hinesville, Georgia and discusses economic development opportunities in the area.

• Population: 35,000 recorded during 2010 census
• Home of the 3rd Infantry Division
• One of the fastest growing cities in the nation

• Plans for new public library, four-year
university satellite center, and green space
• Hopes for gated housing and townhomes,
mixed-use commercial structures, and a
boutique hotel

• What is missing from the case study area?
• How should we develop the area in the next few years?
• How do we attract more private investments and retail
in the case study area, especially since it is not along a
major route?
• We need to overcome the stigma that came along with
this previously being a poor, intercity area. How do we
rebrand the formerly blighted area as part of the new
development?

-City has invested more than $4 million to realign Memorial Drive after the recommendation was given in several studies
-When fully developed, Memorial Drive will be utilized by students, residents, families, and retail patrons/service clientele, as well as creating several job opportunities to support the daytime population.
