Genesis 1:7 || Meditate the Scripture daily verse by verse
Division
1. Division
“In the word DIVISION we have the word "vision" which means "the act or
power of sensing with the eyes" or "the act or power of anticipating that which
will or may come to be. An experience in which a person thing or event
appears vividly.”
“Division is something that divides or separates a partition, or one of the parts
in which a thing is divided. The prefix "di" occurs in loan words from Greek
meaning two, twice, or double.”
“The spirit of strife or division hovers boldly in and around the church and
attaches itself to certain members of the body who refuse to walk in the Spirit-
fulfilling the commandments of our Lord to love and choosing not follow the
commands of the flesh. All of these people outwardly appear to be men and
women of God. They have perfect attendance in church services, or are almost
always involved in every activity. When disputes or arguments and the like
arise, they are almost always involved whether they initiated the disputes or
are a participant of it. There appears to be in almost every place at least one
individual oppressed with these spirits and sadly those aware do not rebuke
them but allow them to operate, therefore causing havoc in the body of Christ.”
2. Matthew 24:10-12
“A few who will stand on the truth of His word will love and stand for the
truth at any cost, and will love and forgive and unite all their brothers.”
“Division is a result of man's tendency to limit God with their own way of
thinking.”
“God instructs us not to lean to our own understanding for the reason that
His ways are not ours and His understanding has no limits while ours does.”
“Division amongst God’s adversary is normal because they are self-seeking
and this is natural divides as each individual regards his own way as
superior. This is a form of pride.”
“Division is a degree of confusion and chaos and that is outside of God’s
character. The Lord is a God of order.”
“When you turn to Christ you correct your own errors opposed to worrying
about the errors of your brothers. When you are quick to point error in your
brothers you are putting your standard above God’s.”
“A person who causes division is in heresy. Heresy is an opinion, especially
a self-willed opinion which is substituted for submission to the power of
3. truth and it leads to division.”
2 Peter 2:1-3
1 Corinthians 11:18-19
“A heresy that leads to division is physical evidence to God’s disapproval.
The ones who stand by each other in unity are obliviously following Jesus
teaching. Some who stay may not be approved, but those who leave are
definitely disapproved, similar to the wheat and tare. It isn’t until harvest
that the tares are exposed.”
Characteristics of a divisive person:
Cause offences (Romans 16:17) (Gk – Offences – a snare, to trip up or sin
against God)
Do not follow New Testament teaching (Romans 16:17, Acts 15:36-
40, Galatians 1:6-9)
They do not serve the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:15-20)
They serve from their own belly (Romans 16:18)
They operate in themselves (1 Corinthians 1:10-17, their works are found in
Galatians 5:16-21)
They seek recognition among their brothers (1 Corinthians 11:18-19)
They don’t care about other members of Jesus’ body (1 Corinthians 12:25)
They are grumblers and complainers (Jude 16)
They walk in their own lust (Jude 16)
4. They flatter people with their speech in order to gain an advantage (Jude 16)
They are mockers (Jude 18)
They are worldly minded (Jude 19)
They do have the Holy Spirit (Jude 19)
How can division end:
Repentance
Restoration – return of something to a former, original, normal, or unimpaired
condition
Return
“It takes humility in those who were causing division to admit that they were
wrong, but it will take a greater humility to return.”
“When you are exposed and you fight it that is also division.”
“Unless you repent wholeheartedly you can’t be restored.”
“It was never God’s purposes to have two brothers to remain in division. It's
whole purpose was to reunite, restore and bring them back together again.”
We cannot have true reconciliation until we are willing to tear down the walls
the separate us.”
2 Chronicles 7:14
