assignments. Students are encouraged to use the IMSE library, and attend the Online
Orientation Course to become familiar with many different writing techniques, styles,
and formats for preparing written assignments. IMSE uses the APA 6th edition style (or
more recent) for assignments. We also recommend students using the APA Perrla brand
software to assist with framing assignments.

About class participation
1. Class Participation – Each student is expected to come to class
prepared to discuss the topics for that session. Students will be graded
on the quality of their participation, which demonstrates about their
knowledge of the subjects their learning.
About attendance
2. Attendance – All students will attend each class. There are no make
ups. One absence will result in a lower grade. More than two
absences will result in a grade of F, since the classes are accelerated
and last four days.
About academic integrity
3. Academic Integrity – IMSE’s faculty and administration do not
condone academic dishonesty in any form. The obligations and
responsibilities for this course are governed by our Academic Integrity
Policy. It is each student’s responsibility to be familiarized with this
policy.
Academic Integrity Policy
IMSE has a strong belief system in academic integrity. Therefore, all students are
expected to abide by the following or will receive a failing grade or dismissal.
No Cheating: Examples of cheating are copying test and quiz answers from another
student or from another person’s work in the format of typed, hand-written, or electronic
communication (internet copy and paste, or text messages, etc). Essentially, the work is
not the students work, for the answers have been retrieved falsely or copied.
No Plagiarism and No Fabrication: A student is plagiarizing when they fail to give credit
to the owner of a set of ideas, theories, or related documentation that is cited in a new
work by a student. There are several other forms within the sphere of plagiarism known
as intentional plagiarism, and academic misconduct. Intentional plagiarism is when a
student knowingly copies ideas, and works that are not their own. Academic misconduct
is the inaccurate quoting of a work, which can be perceived as a form of plagiarism. In
order to avoid both forms, students should be careful in the creation and citation of their
work.
Fabrication is when a student inaccurately quotes, or misleads its readers (for example.
their teacher or classmates) about the subject matter of their paper to be true, when really
falsified or, the subject and or quote in their paper is invented, and deceives its readers.
