2. What’s to Know?
This is your resource for understanding the
components of a successful data migration into
ProsperWorks, such as:
✦ The different methods available to perform a data
migration
✦ How to prepare your database for the migration
✦ Specific tips for ProsperWorks that will help
reduce errors during the migration process
3. How to Prepare
1. Backup your data!
2. Create your custom fields and/or values and add them to your
page layouts
(Make sure if you create picklist values that they match the capitalization,
spacing, etc. of your incoming data exactly if you wish them to be mapped
automatically)
3. Setup your Deal stages so that your incoming data is assigned
to the correct stage
(Make sure these stages are named exactly the same as the incoming data if you
wish them to be mapped automatically)
4. Create all of your users so that you can assign correct record
ownership of the incoming data
4. How to Migrate
✦Spreadsheets:
Upload data manually from CSV files. This
method requires little to no technical
expertise, but will result in some data loss.
For example, ProsperWorks does not
support import of activity or note data.
✦API:
Migrate data directly between your source
and destination tools. For this method, be
ready for hands-on coding.
✦Import2:
A fully automated service for a full data
transfer. No spreadsheets, no coding.
5. 1) Disable your ProsperWorks
email notifications for record
assignments, to ensure that
no unwanted communication
goes out during the import
2) Make sure your
Opportunities are associated
with a Contact in your source
CRM to avoid validation
errors during the import
Things to Note
6. Things to Note
3) Check that each Contact has a unique email address.
ProsperWorks requires the email to be unique on
Contact (People) records. If a duplicate is found, this
will result in an error and the record will be skipped.
4) ProsperWorks does not support setting audit fields
(such as created or updated dates) during migration.
They also do not support setting the completed date
for tasks. As a workaround, you may opt to create a
custom field in order to retain this data from your
source CRM.
