2. ”People are malnourished if their diet does not
provide adequate calories and protein for growth
and maintenance or they are unable to fully utilize
the food they eat due to illness (under nutrition).
They are also malnourished if they consume too
many calories (over nutrition).”

3. ”Malnutrition is a contributing factor in over 50% of
deaths in children under five. 47% of India’s
children below the age of three years are
malnourished (underweight).The World Bank puts
the number – probably conservatively – at 60
million. This is out of a
global estimated total of 146 million. The UN ranks
India in the bottom quartile of countries by under-1
infant mortality (the 53rd
highest), and under-5 child mortality (78 deaths
per 1000 live births). According to the 2008
CIA fact book, 32 babies out of every 1,000
born alive die before their first birthday.

6. Why did we choose this cause?
During 2009-10 & 2012 17546 ton grain was wasted in India
due to lack of storage.
That amount of grain can feed up to 7 Crore people.
As per WHO, 250 g grain is needed per person per day for their
nourishment.
Because of the lack of political will, we are supplying 30% of
grains which is 2-4 year or sometime 16 years old, which is of
course nutrition less!!!
Because of lack of maintenance of schemes like TDPS, ICDS,
Mid-day meal ,people’s expectation has been killed.
So, you just imagine how much care we have about our
children?
