Iowa Legal Aid launched a strategic planning process in 2009 which resulted in new mission, vision, and values statements adopted in 2010. The mission is to provide hope, dignity and justice to low-income Iowans through legal assistance and education that protects rights, basic needs, and access to the justice system while challenging harmful policies. The vision is a state where low-income residents can meet basic needs and fairly exercise their legal rights. The values include high-quality client-centered work, respect for clients, effective teamwork, a just civil system, access to assistance, and engaged governance.
