2. The strapline offers a lot to
the audience creates this
idea that a key way in
which the magazine draw
in their audience is through
their free gifts.
The blood splatters and
slices into the cover
enhance horror theme of
the magazine , while also
complementing the
horrifying images on the
front.
The image and text
rotate around these
three main figures
, villains from horror
classics . The
positioning of the
figures and layout
would intimidate the
reader at first look as
you make eye contact
with the figures on the
cover, who hold a
sinister glare. The
image is placed in front
of the title meaning the
figures hold strong
status.
The title is simple and
bold, but conveys the
horror theme through the
cracked and broken effect
they have used on the
title. Its simple but
effective in carrying on the
theme for the front cover.
With the exceptions of the
title and the titles of the
cover lines, the font is
simple which means the
reader would be able to
quickly skim over it and
instead be focused on the
figures in the image. The
cover lines are punchy
and make simple, but
strong statements.
Overall I find this cover
to be over crowded and
feel that the fonts and
images chosen are
quite weak in the sense
they are not horrifying
or effectively make a
statement.
3. The main cover lines
make bold
statements creating
excitement and
shock for the
reader, Draws them
to want to read and
find what so
controversial about
the show.
The three images at
the bottom page give
the viewer and insight
into the show, it also
creates an haunting
atmosphere as the
images are
obscure, thought
provoking and bold.
The way in which they
are layered over the
text creates this feeling
as if the characters are
climbing out of the
page.
The covers follows a colour
scheme of black, red and
white which perfectly
complements the images at
the bottom of the page and
enhance the main image.
The title is bold and simple
it uses the font of the show
prompting the audience to
connect the two together. It
almost looks as it hiding
behind the image conveyed
through the way it is slightly
covered by the house in the
image.
The main image is small ,
but greatly detailed it
create and eerie
atmosphere, but creates
an air of mystery. The
image looks blood stained
further enhancing the
horror of the image. The
image is simple, but draws
the reader in massively as
there is so much to see
and analyze.
4. The image is bold
and dramatic I the
sense it would
provoke a
response from the
viewer most likely
one of horror. The
intense glare the
subject holds with
the reader both
draws you to the
magazine, but also
creates an eerie
and haunting
atmosphere. The
image is
complemented by
the fact it is not
over crowded by
text which
although it is
simplistic fits in
perfectly with the
design of the front
cover.
The title is
simple, but bold it
doesn’t over
power the main
image.
The cover line
is very small ,
but the colour
makes it stand
out and makes
it clearer to
read. Instead
of over
crowding the
front cover
with a variety
of cover lines
the editors
have made a
decision to let
the image do
all the talking.
