Brothers Joaquín and Antonio Garrigues
Díaz-Cañabate created J&A Garrigues,
Spain’s first law firm organized as a partnership.
Following the merger with Arthur Andersen,
Asesores Legales y Tributarios (ALT), Garrigues
& Andersen was formed, the largest law firm
on the Iberian Peninsula.
The Firm broke off from the Andersen
World Wide network, since when it has
operated under the name Garrigues.

More than just a law firm
Centro de Estudios Garrigues is a teaching institution, with ties
to the Firm and engaged in the fields of training, study and research
in areas related to the Firm’s professional activity.
Fundación Garrigues serves civil society through three core pillars:
legal research, scholarship programs and awards for young jurists and
corporate outreach initiatives. It also plays an active role in the Firm’s
pro bono program.
Garrigues Chair at Universidad de Navarra, Universidad Pontificia
de Comillas (ICAI - ICADE) and Universidad de Zaragoza promote
teaching and legal research into various areas of the law.
