Looking at my results I can see that my target
audience will mainly be females ranging from
teens to late 20’s. There were more females that
answered my questionnaire than males, and
majority were in there teens to 20’s.
Consequently I need to make sure that my
documentary will be suited to this target
audience and my documentary should include
the things that they will enjoy watching.
Looking at the occupation of my audience, they
were mostly full time students, an issue of this
could be that my audience is not a range of
people, it is of a specific age. Because majority
are students they will be on a low income,
therefore this may influence the institution
which will broadcast my media product
(documentary) however because they are
students they do have a disposable income (no
bills etc.) so this could be a good opportunity to
market my product at prime time. Because they
have only reached a certain level of education it
is important to remember to make my product
to fit their level of understanding and make it
accessible for them.
Reviewing my results I can see my audience like
listening to indie/rock, enjoy socialising at
home, use Social networking sites and also
enjoy watching dance. From this I could think
about using a certain genre of music in my
documentary, and also it may benefit me
marking my product on social networking sites
for people to see what my product is all about
as this is very popular with my audience. The
fact I have a particular area they are interested
in (dance) I could think about making my
documentary on Performing Arts to capture
their interest. A limitation to this would be that
because my audience is specifically females my
product may not be very popular overall as I
have targeted a specific gender.
The type of documentary that was generally
picked was ‘Human Interest’, this is things that
people would specifically watch if they were
interested in, e.g. dance, sport, past
experiences, emotionally connected to the
documentary from previous experiences or can
relate to.
