• A logical statement is sensible or reasonable.

estimate of the time available to you.
• We begin with a poster because it can be
easily repurposed into a slideshow. On the
other hand, a slideshow may not be so easy to
change into a poster.

so that the reader can visualize it: the words,

• In writing a proposal for a project or a
research paper, there should be a beneficiary
with a need or a problem situation
• The need or problem situation should look or

To quantify is to count or measure a quantity
(number or volume). The beneficiary’s need (or required
beneficiary’s action to meet that need) should be
countable, measurable, or quantifiable. For example:

• Beneficiary’s Need: Keep clean a
hostel room
• Measurable ideas for that need
– ten minutes a day
– four areas in each room
– five scholars for each floor
– three days a week
– one demerit for ....

When writing the problem statement,
• Being objective is to be neutral, that is, to
allow the possibility of error.
• A proposal should, like a thesis, be open to
any possibility, whether positive or a negative.
• Use modal verbs, as these can mean that a
