1. Data protection information
This information explains which data we store on our servers when processing your application and
how these data are secured and used.
The information on data protection applies for electronic submissions prepared using the electronic
application (hereinafter referred to as "service") on the Internet page with the address
bifonds.de/online-application and in part also for the written application.
Technical data logging
The associated usage data is stored in a log file every time a page of this service is accessed.
These data include the IP address of the accessing computer, the access data and time, the
resources accessed and the response status codes. This technical data logging is carried out solely
for statistical purposes, for the improvement of the service quality and for the monitoring and
averting of safety-related events.
In cases of fault clearance, violations of our terms of use, or unauthorised access or attempts to
access our server, we retain the right to use individual data sets to derive personal data.
The data in the technical data record shall only be submitted to governmental institutions and
authorities when required by law or for purposes of prosecution due to malicious access of our
network infrastructure. They shall not be forwarded to third parties for any other purpose.
Personal application data
In the course of using this service, only those data shall be queried which are required for deciding
on and processing your application. The data for this are forwarded to peer reviewers and committee
members as part of the BIF evaluation and decision process and also stored and processed for
these purposes in the BIF business office. You can approve the usage of your data by the BIF
electronically. Your application cannot be processed unless you grant your consent.
The data and documents of an application are forwarded to peer reviewers and committee members
in the course of the evaluation process. These persons are obligated to handle these data and
documents confidentially.
Cookies
No cookies are required for using this service.
No active components
No active components and no JavaScript are required in the Web browser for the usage of this
service. It is recommended, however, that JavaScript be activated to improve the comfort.
Public PCs
A web browser can, at your own discretion, temporarily store individual data inputs or page displays
on your PC locally (cache). If you use this service on a public PC or on one which can be
accessed by several persons, then you should delete this cache upon completion of your use.

2. Secure data transmission
Any data transmission between your PC and our system during the usage of this service is done
using an encrypted network connection (HTTPS/SSL/TLS).
Security of your PC
We recommend the routine updating of your computer, and the usage of virus protection programs
and a personal firewall.
Declarations and obligations
I obligate myself to notify Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds immediately about any changes to the data in this
online form or the written application. Furthermore:
 to comply with all laws relevant to the project and other project-related regulations and in particular,
to obtain any required approvals in due time.
 to use the approved financing solely in the interest of purposefully realizing the funded project.
I agree that
 information about successful applications will be made generally accessible, including the name of
the applicant, the institution, the amount of funding, the field of activity, the title and a summary of
the research project.
 the data required by Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds for processing the application shall be
electronically stored and processed and also forwarded to peer reviewers and foundation committees
as part of the evaluation and decision-making process.
 in the case of approval, personal and institution-specific address and communication data (name,
institution address) and data including information about the project (e.g. topic, summary, key words,
reference to foreign country) can be published on the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds websites or in
FUTURA.
 I am aware that I can revoke the publication in electronic or written form within 4 weeks of receipt of
the approval letter.
