iTunes error
1. This article covers diagnostic information for following
error messages:
iPhone cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was
specified.
iPod cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was
specified.

Your iPhone or iPod fails to synchronize files. The problem

2. Remove All Duplicate Contents
The first important thing you’ve to do is delete all
duplicate files from your PC.
1. Download Clone Files Checker.
2. Install and run application.
3. Scan for duplicate files.
4. Remove duplicate files.
3. Remove Problematic Plug-Ins
If you’ve recently installed new plug-ins into iTunes,
remove them. There is a plug-in called iToner
which causes this error message. Remove that
plug-in and any other new plug-ins installed.
For Mac OSX:
1. Exit iTunes.
2. Browse the following folders:
~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins
~/Users/username/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
3. Remove all recently installed plug-ins; including
Toner plug-in file iTonerSupport.bundle
4. For Windows 8.1/ 8:
1. Exit iTunes.
2. Double click My Computer desktop icon.
3. Unhide hidden files and folders. Press Alt key. Press “V” key to display the View tab on ribbon interface.
Check-up the box named “Hidden items”.
4. Browse the following folders:
C:UsersXXXAppDataRoamingApple ComputeriTunesiTunes Plug-ins
C:Program Files (x86)iTunesPlug-ins
C:Program FilesiTunesPlug-ins
(Replace XXX with actual user name)
5. Delete all plug-ins including Toner plug-in file iTonerSupport.bundle
For Windows 7/ Vista:
1. Click the Start button on your Taskbar.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click Appearance and Personalization | Folder Options.
4. In the new dialog click the View tab.
5. Choose “Show hidden files and folders” option under “Advanced settings” category.
6. Click OK.
7. Refer Steps # 1-2, and then Steps # 4-5 respectively from Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s paragraph.
5. For Windows XP:
1. Refer Steps # 1-2 from Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s
paragraph.
2. Open below folders:
C:Documents and SettingsXXXApplication
DataApple ComputeriTunesiTunes Plug-ins
C:Program FilesiTunesPlug-ins
(Replace XXX with actual user name)
3. Remove all newly installed plug-ins.
6. Open iTunes as Administrator
Open iTunes program as administrator by changing shortcut properties
as follows:
For Windows 8.1/ 8 and Earlier Versions:
1. Double click Computer desktop icon.
2. Open any of the following folders as the case may be:
C:Program Files (x86)iTunes
C:Program FilesiTunes
3. Press F3 key to locate the Search Box on top right corner.
4. Type “iTunes.exe” in the Search Box, and press ENTER.
5. The file will appear in the search results. Right click that file, select
Properties.
6. Click the Compatibility tab.
7. Under “Privilege level” category check-up the box named “Run this
program as an administrator”.
8. Click Apply, and then OK.
7. Check Disk for Errors
The disk containing iTunes program installed may
be corrupt. Check the disk for errors and bad
sectors to repair iTunes ERROR: Duplicate File.
For Windows 8.1/ 8 and Earlier Versions:
1. Double click Computer desktop icon.
2. Right click the system drive, choose Properties.
3. Click Tools tab, and then “Check Now” button.
4. Start the repair process which may require you
to restart the PC.
8. Disable KMXCF Driver
Those who experience this error may have
KMXCF driver entry in Non Plug n Play drivers
category. Fire up Device Manager and disable
this problematic driver.
For Windows 8.1/ 8:
1. Press Windows Key + X.
2. Click Device Manager.
3. Click View | Show hidden devices.
4. Expand the top category from left panel. The
top category is your computer name.
5. Expand “Non Plug n Play Drivers” category.
6. Right click KMXCF device driver, choose
Disable.
9. For Earlier Versions of Windows:
1. Click the Start button.
2. Type “Device Manager” in the Search Box and
press ENTER.
