Baking Soda for
Cleaning
Baking soda is a very effective cleaner
AND good for the skin.
Did you ever clean your oven and have to throw
open the doors and windows and keep your children
and pets out of the room?
Imagine the ill effects on your health from prolonged
use of such cleaners?
Did you know that baking soda is a very effective,
safe cleaner AND its kind to your hands?
Add a few drops of your chosen essential oils to a
box or shaker of baking soda, sprinkle on counter
tops, tiles, bins, sinks, cooker tops and ovens and
wipe with a sponge. Sparkly clean!!
Baking soda absorbs unpleasant odours while
intensifying the essential oil aromas so you can shake
some in the bin, or leave a small container in the
fridge. It also works in the cat’s litter tray and the cat
didn’t object!
‘Avoid harsh
synthetic cleaners
they are adrenal
stressors.’
5. Using Essential Oils
For Stress

m
Bergamot is known as the "little oil of
stress" and is simultaneously calming &
uplifting. Lavender, one of the best
known oils, is calming and balances the
mood. Ylang Ylang regulates the
heartbeat and controls the amount of
adrenaline produced by the body
Use one drop of each of these oils in one and
a half teaspoons of milk, add to the bath and
soak for 20 minutes.
Leaves you feeling relaxed and chilled
NB Lavender & Ylang Ylang should not be
used by pregnant women
Bergamot should be avoided if you intend to
use a sunbed or be in bright sunlight within
48 hours
.
Using essential
oils is a great –
and easy way - to
reduce stress,
6. Olive Oil Fabulous
Cleanser
www.essentialsholistic.com
Olive Oil is full of antioxidants
which slow the aging process.
For best results use extra virgin
olive oil as it has more vitamins
and minerals that the virgin or
cold pressed varieties.
Olive oil removes even waterproof mascara
and leaves the skin sooo soft.
Apply with a cotton wool pad and tone
with witch hazel or rosewater
This will remove even waterproof mascara,
leave the skin feeling great

inflamation and
balances the

gentle and particularly good in a
mask for dry skin
Simply mash the banana. Optional extras
would be honey for the extra moisturising

exfoliating.
Apply to the face and neck and leave on for
10 to 20 minutes gently massaging the area
to enhance the effect.
Remove with rosewater, witch hazel or cold
chamomile tea.
It is a little messy but totally worth it when
you see the glow of your skin

exfoliate the
skin, and
soften the
facial lines. !’

for Pain Relief
www.essentialsholistic.com
Simply add a cupful of Epsom salts to a
warm bath and soak for 20 minutes.
The salts have a drying effect on the skin,
so you will need to moisturise afterwards.
Wait 20 minutes after the bath before
applying Olive oil or sweet almond oil.
They are lovely natural moisturisers and
they have their own painkilling
properties.
If you're pregnant, planning to become
pregnant or have a heart or kidney
disease consult a GP Before using Epsom
salts. Those with sensitive skin should do
a patch test before using Epsom salts
Epsom salts draw
toxins from the
body, relax the

nervous system. In
addition they
reduce swelling
and exfoliate the
skin.

Avoid infection AND freshen the house
Some essential oils are particularly good at
warding off infection. Burning them will
reduce-or even stop- the spread of colds, tummy
bugs etc.
In an oil burner add some water and 1 drop
each of essential oils of Eucalyptus, Lavender &
Lemon.
Don’t have a burner? Put boiling water and the
essentials oils in a bowl or sink. The heat will
carry the oils around the room .
