Presentation1 Question 2
1. In my media product, a music magazine, I have aimed greatly to represent men therefore this being to reason behind having featured a pop boy band on my front cover.
2. On the cover page I choose to use and reinforce the idea of dominant ideology of men using an all male boy band representing what the magazine is solely based upon. However I have in some ways broken down the stereo typical views of male boy bands by them being situated in a very natural setting and welcoming pose, in some cases it could be seen that the band isn’t even posing.
3. I choose to do it like this as I wanted to represent the pop boy band in a very natural way, how they are in normal every day life, attempting to get rid of the cheesy sexual image that usually surrounds them, therefore showing an emergent ideology as I am representing pop boy bands in a less cheese and sexualised manor.
4. Another way I have shown emergent ideology is through my band being solely photographed outside in natural surroundings, not using any studios, props or specific lighting to give them a specific image. My band are also not posed in anyway or semi dressed similar to many other pop magazines, they are very much natural and themselves, not something widely seen in pop magazines. Thus breaking down the stereotype of pop boy bands not needing the usual photo studio treatment to make them a pop band worthy of a magazine cover.
5. For my contents page I choose to follow with emergent ideology again with the band still being in a very natural pose.
6. My double page spread again continues with the same emergent ideology used on my front cover and contents page. The band members are posing in a full body shot in a very natural manor, the audience being able to identify with the members very easily. I photographed the individual members in a very natural pose not in any way cheesy or sexual in case this was to give the image other connotations. The reason I choose to do this was because the magazine is aimed at a male audience that like listening to pop music as a pass time something that it natural, not something that is sexual or cheesy, therefore the magazine supports emergent ideology as it’s keeping the band in my magazine non-sexual and non-cheesy.
7. The fonts used on my double page spread were very simple and easy to read/ follow, therefore allowing anybody to read the magazine article. The colour scheme used on my magazine plays a big part with identifying with my audience, using plain black and white not only makes it simple to read but also appeals to the reader as its a colour they can relate to rather than using a colour, such as bright pink, which wouldn't attract or entertain the reader at all.
