8. Certification and Accreditation
Authentication, is a big challenge in
MOOC, as well as in Online Learning.
Solution:
Students will pay a
fee for an
authentication
process through an
online interview
9. Certification
Once student has completed activities and
evaluations, most of the MOCC are granting a
certificate of completion (usually signed by the
professor).
10. Accreditation
Fact: Universities were reluctant to give
credit for MOOC. Big hit:
San Jose State
University
Entry-level courses at $150
for college credit,
transferable within the
California State University
(CSU) system and most US
colleges and universities.
11. MOOC: Research Labs
MOOC have become
research labs, where
research about how
students communicate,
exchange information,
collaborate and learn are
conducted.
12. Universities Mission Questioned
Adapt or perish?
MOOC revolution is getting
universities to question their
own mission: how to get
advantage of technology, how
to deliver better education,
how to contribute to an
education for everyone.
15. Good professors are
becoming “rockstars
of education”, with
MOOC platforms, they
will teach millions.
Their mission will be
more than
accomplished.
Educational rockstars
16. Desktop Digital Production
“Home made” productions will be the easiest way
to produce a MOOC . Personal desktop digital
production kits will be available for every professor.
17. In universities, entry-level courses (Math and
Science) will be delivered as MOOC, available for
mobile devices.
K-12 courses will be supported by projects like
Khan Academy.
Every educational level will have content
enriched by MOOC
Every Educational Level
18. Intelligent tutors, personal assistants, voice
commanding will be basic components of MOOC.
Tutoring based on Artificial
Intelligence
Artificial intelligence will
cover all learning styles, it
will help MOOC to provide
non-lineal learning paths.
19. Universities will be willing to
take advantage of large
scale teaching benefits.
Number of universities giving
(or accepting) credit for
MOOC will increase shortly.
Full Accreditation
20. Narrative content of MOOC will be enriched
by transmedia.
Transmedia Content
In the Fourth Annual World-wide ADL
Directors' Meeting, Orlando, FL., December
3, 2012, Frank DiGiovanni pointed out to the
theme of MOOC and transmedia
technologies.
TV, Radio, YouTube, Twitter,
Facebook, Blogging,
Second Life…
Last Generation Dynamic
Interactive eBooks will be
the most important
transmedia resources for
MOOC.
21. MOOC Revolution will
influence government and
industry.
Learning paths for
companies training will be
designed and supported
by MOOC.

22. Another market for MOOC: people who have an
inner desire for learning.
MOOC used just for pleasure and satisfaction.
learning.
Self Rewarding Learning
MOOC will promote a learning culture, the
genesis of a new Learning Society.
23. MOOC will have more
presence in developing
countries due to the lack of
affordable high quality
education opportunities.
Language barrier will be a
challenge, but local
universities will have to
move on the MOOC
revolution in their own
languages.
Impact in Developing Countries
24. MOOC Revolution is challenging the Higher
Education establishment.
Revolution is in the air
Stephen Downes, one of pioneers of the
revolution by creating the cMOOC concept,
accompanied by Jesus Flores and Nina Flores.
Mexico, October 2010.
Two big questions:
Are the MOOC
development a big
opportunity for
accomplishing the ADL
mission?
At the end, will MOOC
revolution lead to a new
Learning Society ?
