9. Another effective way to impart learning is to show
the learners the common mistakes they make while
performing a task and in the process be able to explain
the misconceptions they have and clarify them.
Training should provide the learner an exposure to
challenging situations where they are likely to fail.
Through this type of learning, you ensure that learners
will not only be able to perform tasks more efficiently
but also understand the mistakes they repeatedly do.
People naturally want to know what they perceive as
useful. Training should provide hooks to questions that
enable the learners to clear their misconceptions. For
example, if the partner/customer is unsuccessful in
performing a specific defined task, he/she would be
interested in learning about common mistakes that
people do while doing that task.
Natural learning is triggered by the pursuit of
authentic goals. People learn as a means of improving
their ability to achieve a goal to which they are
committed. Therefore, training modules should be
structured around realistic goals that the learners are
likely to encounter.
Most significant learning occurs when we perform a
task. Therefore, we design our courses such that
concepts, procedures, and processes are taught in the
context of doing. Therefore, for example, to explain
the processes/tasks to be performed, a demonstration
will be shown on how a task needs to be performed.
This demonstration will be shown in a defined set up
by understanding the steps from the application.
Thereafter, the same task will be given to the learners
as a practice to be performed in a similar set up.
