With the coming availability of the Vortec 5.3L V-8 Engine in early 2008, Canyon’s choice of optional engines is more impressive than ever. Canyon models

A COMFORTABLE RIDE MATCHED BY RESPONSIVE HANDLING.
The Canyon has what it takes to absorb the bumps, handle the curves and supply superb traction — and do it
all loaded or unloaded. A variety of professional grade designs contributes to its impressive handling capabilities.
Depending on the model and suspension package you choose, either front independent coil springs or front independent
torsion bars, complemented by a rear semifloating axle with two-stage multileaf springs, contribute to Canyon’s
heavy-duty capabilities. And every model features rack-and-pinion steering for precise steering response.
A CHOICE OF SUSPENSION SYSTEMS
For a sporty ride, the ZQ8 suspension system is available for 2WD models. Canyon sits two inches

lower with ZQ8 suspension than with the standard Z85 suspension, and the system includes 18-inch
aluminum wheels. The Z71 High Stance Off-Road suspension system — available for 2WD and 4WD
models — features stamped A-arms and a 28mm tubular front stabilizer bar and sits higher than the
standard Z85 suspension. With 2WD models, the system offers the high stance, aggressive look of a
4x4 in a 2WD model. Front torsion bars further enhance Canyon’s solid handling capabilities.
EATON LOCKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL
An available Eaton Automatic Locking Rear Differential2 is designed to improve low-speed traction of
your 2WD or 4WD vehicle. The differential engages when the speed difference between the rear tires
reaches approximately 100 rpm. Once the differential engages, both rear wheels rotate at the same
speed, providing more of the driveline’s torque to the tire with better traction.
STRONG CHASSIS
A strong, stiff chassis helps provide a smooth ride and impressive payload capacities. In fact, Canyon
Regular Cab 2WD models offer a hefty payload capacity of 1547 lbs.3
TRACTION CONTROL
2WD automatic models are available with Electronic Traction Control. It helps provide controlled

acceleration on slippery surfaces, such as snow, ice or wet pavement, by moderating engine power
and controlling the brakes to reduce wheel spin.
SHIFT ON THE FLY
4WD models feature Insta-Trac, an electronic system that lets you shift on the fly from 2WD to 4WD HI

Canyon’s interior is designed for spaciousness, quiet comfort and convenience. Advanced acoustic
engineering includes a composite material called Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) used in the dash for
noise reduction, as well as triple door seals to help ensure a quiet ride. Rear-seat heat ducts (Crew
Cab models) keep rear-seat passengers comfortable. And GM’s LATCH1 system (a combination of Lower
