•Raise awareness of available support by sign posting to specialist support
organisations.
•Work with SEs and partners to agree on a universal citywide method to
measure and translate social value.
•Work towards helping Salford become recognised nationally as a Social
Enterprise City.
•Hold regular events either in the format of ‘social enterprise forums’ used in this
project or in the form of action learning sets exploring solutions to issues faced
by local SEs.
•Raise the profile of Salford’s SEs and raise levels of understanding of social
enterprise throughout the City.
•Encourage mutual trade between the region’s SEs.
•Work with existing business support providers to ensure that their services are
improved, adapted and developed to effectively meet the needs of SEs,
particularly those organisations offering start-up support, financial/funding
advice and help to trade internationally.
•Seek to influence local government policy on behalf of SEs.
GM Business Finance
The GM Business Finance approach addresses the finance 'gap' by providing loan, equity and access to finance services to GM SMEs, where commercial finance cannot or currently will not be provided, helping to:
Stimulate growth.
Create employment and Safeguard employment, especially in areas of high Public Sector job losses.
Providing opportunities to fund those people wishing to stabilise or develop their businesses.
Contribute to business survival rates.
GM will address the current failure in the market place for loan and early stage equity finance by providing an alternative range of finance products supported by focused ‘Access to Finance’ investment readiness support and growth services.
Objectives
Increased scale of available funding through a suite of products
Improved support in accessing and being ready for that funding, and
Investment support through the Business Growth Hub (BGH).
