2. Synopsis
• The background of the film we have decided to create is set in 1948. The film is based on a
crime drama/Noire aspect. We are going to recreate the opening sequence from the film
Sunset Boulevard with the low angle shots on the sign of the street we are going too use.
However the film is about two detectives called Detective Sylvester and Detective Smith who
have to solve a crime between two women (Ella Phillips & Marge White) a cheating male
which causes a death for one of the suspects. The Detectives have to decide on what
happened and why its happened the only way to solve the mystery is grueling interrogations
and violence which could be created.
• Detective Sylvester : old fashioned cop doesn’t play by the book, wants a crime solved
whatever it takes.
• Detective Smith : The New Rookie Cop who plays by the book.
3. Opening Sequence
• The opening Sequence of our film is a recreation of Sunset Boulevard with a twist.
The sequence is starting with Non Digetic backing track with a high angled shot
facing the sky slowly tilts towards the sign of our film. The Establishing shot of the
sign fades into the boulevard sequence with the following of the road. However
the Camera movement stops with an Extreme Close up on Detective Sylvester and
a tracking shot is created as the camera follows Sylvester’s walk too meet
Detective Smith.
4. Titles
• Font : due to not knowing our film idea we still have ideas for the fonts
• Film Noire
• Film Noire
• Film Noire
• Film Noire
• The start of the Opening Sequence the title is going to be in the
footage. However the Characters will be faded in and out when
the person is on screen.
5. Creative Ideas
• The Group has many creative ideas for the Film Opening Sequence we are going to create.
Firstly creating of the crime scene, Flashbacks are going to be used to show the crime, this is
stereotypically in a Film Noire. The 1948 theme was creative due to the fact that the Noire
Films were based in those days so this means we are going to create our film in black and
white.
For the Crime scene we are going too use either Tomato Ketchup/ soup too show the blood
been left at the scene.
However we are going to use 21st century Graphics with the Graphic match we are going to
create. A photo of Margery White will be graphically matched into her real face, we believe
this will look very good and will show a good start into the next scene of the interrogations.
6. Appeal to Target Audience
• Appealing to the target audience is quite different compared to different Noire
films. During the Noire kind of era, the films have been usually a PG. However in
recent years it has changed to 15-18+ and this what we have decided to do.
We believe a age rating of 15 can maximize our appeal to the Target audience.
The Characters of the film especially Detective Sylvester is going to intrigue the
viewer with his violent drunken approach to the interrogations. Also crime scene
and our use of graphic matches will intrigue people who like technology and the
script can use some comic value. We believe by doing this we can maximize our
target audience.
