This review analyzed 7 randomized controlled trials involving 581 infants with mild to moderate acute viral bronchiolitis. The review found that nebulized 3% saline solution was associated with a shorter hospital stay compared to 0.9% saline. 3% saline also improved clinical severity scores over the first 3 days of treatment compared to 0.9% saline. No significant adverse events were reported with 3% saline.
