FACTS
THINGS TO CONSIDER
My secondary audience would include readers of the Northern Echo, Younger Teens (<18)
and parents of teenagers. In order to not offend or shock my secondary audience I would
need to ensure that I don’t include Nudity/Inappropriate Imagery and Taboo/Offensive
Language.
SECONDARY AUDIENCE
THINGS TO CONSIDER
The Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) is the new independent regulator of the
newspaper and magazine industry and replaces the old organisation, the PCC. The IPSO was
created to promote and uphold the highest professional standards of journalism in the UK, and to
support members of the public where they believe that the Editors' Code of Practice has been
breached and to consider concerns about editorial content in newspapers and magazines, and
about the conduct of journalists.
There are a few rules to ensure that I don’t break any of IPSOs rules, there are:
IPSO - INDEPENDENT PRESS STANDARDS ORGANISATION
THINGS TO CONSIDER
To be accurate with the content I create for my magazine and to ensure that this information is
coming from a primary source, or multiple sources if it’s secondary information.1

providing information such as email addresses, office address and phone numbers.
When taking photos of people to be certain that I’m not invading someone's personal, private
property or in a place unethically wrong to take photos.
To ensure that I’m not harassing anyone while trying to create/write about the articles that I’m
wanting to write.
To make sure that my content don’t cause grief or shock people when reading my magazine.
