Mud logging roles include:
 Monitoring of drilling parameters, such as drill rate, drilling mud circulatory system, bit
hydraulics and gas levels to ensure safety of lives on the rig.

3.  Communicate and report abnormal trends of drilling parameters to drillers, drilling
supervisors and wellsite geologists for appropriate action
 Identify and describe lithology from ditch cuttings and core samples
 Pore pressure detection using D-Exponent, and other methods. Monitoring of formation
fluid pressure, temperature, flow rate, and other drilling parameters.
