Q.4 How food and oxygen reaches
different parts of the body?
8. Circulatory system
Definition:
The organ system of the human being
which is responsible for the transport
of materials inside the body is called
circulatory system.
9. Parts of the circulatory system
1 The heart
2 The blood vessels
3 The blood
10. The HEART
It is a conical and highly muscular
hollow organ situated in the chest.
It is approximately equal to the
size of fist of left hand. Heart
circulate the blood in our body.
It consists of the following
Parts
1 Chamber
2 Layers of heart
3 valves
11. Four chambers
The heart is four chambered structure.
1 Right atrium:
The right atrium receives
the deoxygenated blood
from all parts of the body . It
pumps this blood into right
ventricle.
2 Right ventricle:
it pumps the
deoxygenated blood to the
lungs
12. FOUR CHAMBER
Left atrium:
It receives oxygenated
blood from the lungs
through pulmonary veins. It
pumps this blood into the
left ventricle.
Left ventricle:
The left ventricle pumps
the oxygenated blood the
distant organs in the body.
13. Four chambers
Each atrium communicate with the
ventricle of its side by a pore which is
guarded by valves. This valves allow the
blood to flow from the atrium to the
ventricle . Thus in the heart there is a
complete separation of oxygenated and
deoxygenated blood.
14. Layers of the heart wall
• There are three layers of tissue form
the heart wall
Epicardium layer:
The outer layer of the heart wall is
the Epicardium.
Myocardium:
The middle layer is myocardium.
Endocardium:
The inner layer is Endocardium
16. Valves of the heart
Bicuspid valve:
This valve allow the deoxygenate
blood to flow from the right atrium to the
right ventricle.
Tricuspid valve:
This valve allow the oxygenate
blood to flow from the left atrium to the left
ventricle.
18. Sectional Recapitulation
Q.1 The circulatory of the system consists of
the heart , the blood vessels and ---------.
Q.2 The heart consist of ------------
Chambers.
19. Sectional Recapitulation
Q.1 The circulatory of the system consists of
the heart , the blood vessels and ---------.
Q.2 The heart consist of ------------
Chambers.
Q.3 The right atrium receives the ----------
blood.
20. Sectional Recapitulation
Q.1 The circulatory of the system consists of
the heart , the blood vessels and ---------.
Q.2 The heart consist of ------------
Chambers.
Q.3 The right atrium receives the ----------
blood.
Q.4 The left atrium receives oxygenated blood
from the lungs through ------------.
21. The blood vessels
2. Blood Vessels -A network of tubes
Arteries- carry the oxygenated blood from the
heart to the different regions or organs.
Capillaries –the capillaries have thin walls so as
to enable very tiny molecules to diffuse in and
out. The capillaries rejoin to form a vein. Thus a
network of capillaries forms the connection
between arteries and veins.
Veins- veins carry impure or deoxygenated blood
collected from the different regions to the heart
22. The BLOOD
A. Plasma
About 55% of the blood is a
pale yellow watery fluid
called plasma
Plasma consist of in
which substances such as
glucose, amino acids,
sodium, waste product and
carbon dioxide are
dissolved.
23. The BLOOD
B. Red Blood Cells
Carry hemoglobin
and oxygen. Do not
have a nucleus and
live only about 120
days.
24. THE BLOOD
C. White Blood cells
Fight infection and are
formed in the Bone -
Marro.
White blood cell “eat
up bacteria and germs.
The ratio of RBC to
WBC is 1:500.
25. The Cardiovascular System
The Blood
D. Platelets.
Platelets are tiny
fragments of cells.
Platelets help the
blood to form clots at a
bound side so excessive
loss of blood may be
prevented
28. FINAL RECAPITULATION
