Editor's Notes

  1. It will present an overview of medicine and disease from the Middle Ages through the present. Social, cultural, local, international, and biological perspectives will be addressed.
  2. During the 19 th and early 20 th centuries, the field of science was revolutionized by advances in the fields of microscopy, sanitation and public health.
  3. "The Socratic method of teaching is based on Socrates' theory that it is more important to enable students to think for themselves than to merely fill their heads with "right" answers. Therefore, he regularly engaged his pupils in dialogues by responding to their questions with questions, instead of answers. This process encourages divergent thinking rather than convergent."
