Dear Judges,
Every aspect of society is becoming more and more integrated with technology and computers.
They are the future of human interaction and development. I, Brian Kasha, want to help shape
that future. To gain a firm foundation in my knowledge of computers I decided to build one.
From research to completion, the computer took me about 5 months to complete.
I started by researching security threats in computer systems and how to protect against those
threats. During my research, I learned how to properly secure my computer once it had been
built. This also cemented my interest in computer security. I then had to start researching the
individual components that make up any computer. I found that I needed 8 major components:
a case to put everything in, the power supply, a motherboard, a processor, some RAM, a hard
drive, a disk drive, and a video card. I started with a budget of 1200 dollars that I had saved last
summer and set aside specifically for this purpose. This ended up allowing me to purchase all the
highest quality parts.
This project has cemented my desire to study Computer Science at Auburn University this
coming fall. I have discovered that not only do I enjoy working with computers, but I am
actually pretty skilled at it. I hope to be able to do something like this for a possible career. This
project has made me very excited about the future. I look forward to the challenge ahead of me.
This project has helped me grow. I have reaffirmed my love for technology while building a
super cool computer and having fun. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Brian Kasha
