3. THE PURPOSE OF TIME MANAGEMENT
Time management is the decision making process that
focuses on an individuals values and goals.
My goals:
As a full time undergraduate student my mission is to fur ther my
education by par ticipating in class and completing all of the tasks
that involve school work and still be apar t of an active social life.
In order to balance a busy schedule and full work load time management is
essential for me to be both effective and efficient.

4. “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE”
To focus on my set goals it is essential to prioritize the
tasks to be completed
By using the chart that is on the next slide to break down
tasks into two categories:
Important , which deals with results
Urgent , which requires immediate attention.
Both my time and tasks can be organized into the four
quadrants.
2
5. Within this chart, tasks can be sorted into four quadrants; With
Quadrant 1 taking first priority and so forth. It is suggested that most of
the day should be spent in Quadrant 2. By having the day be revolved
around planning and activities that will benefit the future, time would
then be managed in a effective manner.
1. Quadrant styled chart was designed by David A. Whetten and Kim S. Cameron, Developing
Management Skills, 4th Ed., (New York: Addison Wesley Educational Publishing Inc., 1998).

Day 1 Data

Quadrant 4
On a typical Tuesday, most of
the day involves being in
class or doing homework. In
fact on Tuesdays there is no
time to be wasted doing
activities that are non important and urgent
(Quadrant 3).
Although Quadrant 4 is the
second biggest section of the
day, most of the activities
during this time included
“busy work” and relaxing
with friends. By having such
a tight schedule being able
to balance all of my classes
is a strength of mine.

Quadrant 4
Wednesday, which still shows
that most of the day was
productive doing various
activities within Quadrant
2, there was still time that
was wasted by misplacing
priorities for activities such
as working out and
socializing too much
(Quadrant 3)
Socializing too much is a
concern, since it takes away
from completing homework
and other important tasks
that were due. This is a
weakness that needs to be
corrected.
5
8. During both days most of the time was
spent properly maintaining a schedule in
which all tasks were completed in a
timely fashion.
The second largest amount of time was
spent doing activities that were not
important or urgent. This does not
necessarily have negative ef fects on my
goals as a person , this time was spent
relaxing.
Some time was not spent preforming
tasks in an ef ficient manner, but this is
an issue that is being resolved by using
some tips that will further benefit my
time management skills.

9. IMPROVEMENTS
How I Try to Work Efficiently and Effectively Planning the day ahead of time by using a schedule
This includes planning out my outfit for the next day and having
a To-do list
Avoid distractions by giving time for breaks
This also benefits as an reward for completing certain tasks.
Multi-tasking
By doing multiple activities that do not require full attention
Doing homework with friends
By doing homework with friends, it combines both of my goals in
which I can balance friendships and completing tasks
7
10. CONCLUSION
Using proper time management skills can lead to a more
productive and pro-active life style in which tasks are
completed with the proper level of quality needed.
By using these skills procrastination becomes a less
prominent issue allowing for more ef fective work to be done

Use and create a mission and purpose statement
TIPS TO BE USED HERELAST LINE SHOULD BE ABOUT THE GRAPH ON THE NEXT SLIDE
ALTHOUGH THE GRAPH IS SELF EXPLIAINABLE EXPRESS HOW THE 2ND QUADRANT IS WHERE MOST OF THE TIME SHOULD BE SPENT.
Analyze data into a coherent sentence or two about how the time was spent. In the next slide show how the days were broken down Show that part 4 was stuff I wanted to do,
Show how although most of the day was mostly productive that more could have been done. Use example and use a cool graph to show how much more could hve been done.
