Khutbah keagungan saidina umar

2. Introduction Umar was a companion of Prophet Muhammad. He succeeded Caliph Abu Bakr (632–634) as the second caliph. Umar was assassinated by the Muslims’ enemy, Abu Lulu’ah. During the period of the resettlement, Umarwas reported to have migrated openly during the day time, saying; Anyone who wants to make his wife a widow and his children orphan should come and meet me there behind that cliff." 3. Umar’s contributions to Islam; During his appointment as the second caliph, he released the Al-Aqsa mosque. He advised the first caliph, Abu Bakr to compile the Mushaf/Quran. This wasbecause of the assassinations of walking Qurans in the Battle of Yamamah. Then, the compilation of Mushaf was conducted by Zaid. 4. Umar’s tragic death Abu Lulu’ah came to Umar and complained about the tax imposed to him was high. Umar rationally rejected Abu Lulu’ah complain because the tax wasstill reasonable, based on his income and the profits he earned. Abu Lulu’ahwas disappointed and made a promise in his heart to kill Caliph Umar. 5. Ali offered Umara guard but he refused because he believed that Allah was the only guard he needed. The other reason of his rejection was because he afraid that his people would not consult him anymore. During a Fajr prayer, Abu Lulu’ahgrabbed the chance to kill Caliph Umar. 6. Uthman conducted the Fajr prayer while other companions took care of Caliph Umar. Upon his death, Caliph Umarasked his companions about the Fajrprayer; Didall Muslims perform the Fajr prayer? IbnuAbbas answered; Yes, they did. Then, Caliph Umarreplied; whoever neglectsSolahis not a Muslim. AsUmar's will, he was buried in Mosque Nabawialongside Prophet Muhammad and former Caliph Abu Bakr.
