2. Festivals and Conditions!
1. Conditions
Rain is a main factor at festivals, especially in Ireland at such
festivals as Oxegen, so the chair must be durable.
2. Transport
Transport of luggage is a big problem, due to
long travels, and much equipment, therefore,
the chair must be compact, and easily
adjustable for setup.
3. Disposal
Alot of camping equipment and rubbish tent to be
destroyed and left behind for quick and light exits at the
end of a festival, therefore the chair must be easily
disposible and recycable to keep carbon footprints down.
3. My Mini Model Experiments!
1st Model
This was my first model. The
advantages were, it was easily
assembled, however it was too basic
and showed no creativity, also it was
too “square” and lacked comfort.
2nd Model
The positive side of this model was the
rocking chair effect I was going for allowing
the user to relax, however, when I built this
to a scale of 1:5, it proved too weak on the
sides, and also the slots coming across were
too sharp on the body.
4. 3rd Model
This here was my final design I set upon. The
plus side was it was supportive with an
enforced base consisting of 3 beams, two
applied as a cross, and one running straight
along the back. The second benefit was its
comfort with the use of curved flats running
along the back and seat. The only downside, is
there is no arm rests or even supports on this
1:5 scale model.
The Final Model!
These are the 3 different mini models I
have based my main model on, all 3
mini models were made to a scale of
1:5, based on the full model being
700mm running horizontally and
vertically.
