Hi! My name is Kimberly Richardson and I am a Graphic Designer currently located in Benton,
Louisiana. Growing up I always had a love for art. It wasn't just an appreciation for pretty photo-
graphs and paintings. . . but advertising. So naturally, why not pursue a career in something you
love!

Education & Experience
With a Diploma in Visual Communications from Medicine Hat College, Alberta, Canada 1992-1995,
I started my career. My first position was layout artist/ad designer for the local paper. . .
Medicine Hat News. 1995-1998
I learned everything I could about becoming a good newspaper ad designer. . . to design BIG and
BOLD. Working in the Ad department I became very fast and efficient at meeting daily deadlines,
designing ads for Newspaper clients and other promotional material. I also Worked closely in team
environment with other ad designers and sales staff. Designing ads for a Newspaper never left you
anytime to be overly creative.

After 2 years at the paper and tired of the same creative process day after day or . . . the lack of it. I
knew I wanted to unleash my creative ability and so began my business venture.
Kreative Effects. 1998-2003
Kreative Effects started out in the beginning as a home based business designing logos, brochures,
coupon books and other publications. At the time home based businesses were just beginning and
starting to become more popular. . . I wanted to take it to the next level. So I opened up shop and
became a full fledged Graphic Design and Large format printing business in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Designing and producing advertisements, flyers, business cards, posters, custom web designs, POP
displays, logos, magazines, giclee reproductions etc. . . for numerous clients.
Over those years I worked on numerous projects/publications for clients such as and not limited too:
Admazing Savings Coupon Book: awarded contract for designing coupon ads for a quarterly
coupon book in Medicine Hat and Area.Travel Alberta - Southern Edition Newspaper: Designing
ads and layout. Palliser Health Authority - Monthly newspaper: Designing ads and layout. Alberta
Recreation & Parks Association 2003 Annual Conference Publication: Designed and produced
print ready publication. Medicine Hat Telephone Book: awarded the contract for the local phone
book. Designing the ads, front cover and getting the book print ready. Home Sweet Home Publi-
cation: Created and published Medicine Hat's New Home Builder Magazine. Full color, quarterly
publication for New Home Builders in the Medicine Hat and area. Entertaining You Publication:
Created and published Medicine Hat's official dining and entertainment guide. Medicine Hat Tour-
ism: Designed, printed and laminated two free standing POP displays for trade show 32"x 96"
As with all new businesses they take years to become successful. . . a lot of time and money. In 2003
I was offered a position with a local company to become they're in house designer. I closed up shop
and moved my equipment in with Comco Technologies Group.
Comco Technologies Group 2003 - 2006
Graphic Designer for Comco Technologies Group Inc. Medicine Hat, Alberta. I continued to pro-
duce and designed all advertising, promotional work for the company as well as for other clients.
They’re company sales grew 3% in the first 6 months of my employment with them. Produced
websites for Kingsland Development, Medicine Hat, Alberta. Advantage Oilfield Group, Dunmore,
Alberta. Iron Horse Energy Services, Dunmore, Alberta.
At the time I had been balancing career and family . . . family won. With all my experiences, and
life’s lessons, I have learned to grow as a Graphic Designer, business owner, mother, wife and
friend. Once again, I am designing from home. . .
