This document describes a lighting workshop activity where students analyze different lighting techniques used in movies. For each technique, students screengrab an example from Movieclips, note how many lights are used and their positioning, discuss health and safety considerations, and analyze where and how the technique creates atmosphere. The techniques analyzed are backlighting, low key lighting, under lighting, top lighting, and high key lighting.

•Be careful when setting up the camera on he stand
•Make sure the camera is secured tight on the stand before
moving the light around
•Make sure that you do not look directly at the light

used? This kind of lighting would be seen being used in thrillers or
maybe sci-fi horror

of mysterious atmosphere is brought to the show which can build
suspense
