The Miracles of the Prophet Muhammad
1. The Miracles of Prophet Muhammad
Miracles of the Prophets are required to look into by Faith and Belief in God not with
materialistic eyes and mind; otherwise, we would find it hard to believe it. Knowledge
of the unseen power of God through our faith lies beyond the miracles. The creation
of Adam & Eve and Jesus are miracles, for they were not born according to the
physical laws but divine laws of God. Although we have been currently entangled in
materialistic notions and concepts, science, one day, will have to attribute the origin of life to
a Divine miracle.
The concept of the unseen power of God relates to unreachable senses of humans and
their metaphysical world. In this sense, the past, the future, and everything beyond ordinary
human senses are included in the concept of the Unseen power of God.
The creator, God, with absolute knowledge, will and power, does what He wishes: for He is
not bound by the laws He established for the universe. Therefore, He can change them or
even act and create without any laws if He so wishes.
Given this, we should try to discover those divine laws without comparing them with the
scientific laws like gravity, which are also created by God to lead our lives safely and to get
better and better through new inventions. Denying miracles means denying God's existence
and Prophets’ Prophet hood. Almost all Prophets worked miracles. For centuries, Jews and
Christians had confirmed the miracles of Moses and Jesus, respectively.
God gave us a Human intellect which is limited, and we all know that what is limited cannot
judge that which is not limited. In other words, when Jesus raised people from the dead, but
he was just a divine means. God is the only one who can raise people from the dead!
Keeping these point of views in our minds, let’s take a brief look at the Prophet’s
Muhammad’s miracles. The noble Prophet, be peace and blessings upon him and all
prophets, declared that he is a Prophet and to prove his Prophet hood, presented the
glorious Qur'an was revealed to him as the most important miracle and nearly other many
miracles. I will first present three important miracles of prophet Muhammad. Later the rest
of his miracles will be presented briefly.
1. Qur’an
2. Night Journey
3. Splitting the moon into half
4. Other miracles of the Prophet Muhammad
5. Last speech of the Last Prophet
2. 1.The First Important Miracle of the Prophet Muhammad
The Book of Qur’an
The Prophet Muhammad’s the greatest miracle is the Qur’an. The holy Qur’an proves the
cause of the Prophet with its hundreds of verses. Thousands of expert scholars claim that
Qur’an is a miracle from many aspects.
The next presentation will be about Qur’an to see that whether it is a word of God or
not!
All the prophets had their own extraordinary deeds and miracles which proved their divine
mission according to the time they lived in.
Example: transformation of Moses’ wooden stick into a snake. Magic was popular during the
time of Moses. So, with the permission of God, Moses showed miracles which were more
overwhelming than magic, and his miracles challenged the magicians of Pharaoh and led
most of them to believe in Moses. Medicine was popular during the time of Jesus Christ
who showed his miracles in Medicine: He resurrected the death with the permission of God.
On the other hand, fluency and literature were popular during the time of the Prophet
Muhammad. Thus, God, as a miracle, revealed the Qur’an in the best of rhetoric, literature
and eloquence to the Prophet Muhammad.
Miracles are eye-openers and the last resort for the prophets to make their people
believe that God Exists. People were so stubborn in old times and they would not believe
in God easily like today’s unbelievers who look for God In Science lab. Another miracle of
Qur’an is that it had remained unchanged and God in Qur’an said,
“We revealed Qur’an and we will protect it” @b
3. 2. The Miracle of Night Journey Ascension.
One of the greatest miracles of the Prophet is the miracle of Night Journey and Ascension,
which is mentioned and narrated by the Quran, authentic sayings of the Prophet
Muhammad and history resources.
When the prophet was under economic pressure by unbelievers, he lost his wife
Hatice and his guardian, Ebu Talib too, He felt all alone. God called upon him through
Gabriel to have this miraculous night journey to tell him that he is not left alone; God
is with him him and will be with him!
In other words, one of the divine reasons of the Night Journey is to reconfirm the Prophet
Muhammad’s divine mission and comfort him. The event took place as on the 27th
night of
the month of Receb, and upon the call from God Almighty and guided by angel Gabriel, the
Prophet went from the Kaba in Makka to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem and then to the sky, to
the high realms and to the presence of God. Qur’an declares this truth:
“Glory to GOD Who did take His Servant for Journey by night from the Sacred
Mosque to the Farthest Mosque whose precincts We did bless in order that We might
show him some of Our Signs: for He is the one Who heard and saw all things.”
Night journey of Prophet Muhammad is an amazing miracle in which it is believed that
he was welcomed by all great prophets, Adam, Joseph, Johannes, Enoch, Abraham
Moses Aaron and Jesus, and he talked to God.
Like we said before if we look into the miracles of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus and
Muhammad through GOD’ s Almighty Power, Supremacy and Blessings, it would
be easy to believe in.

4. God who created the whole universe out of nothing, would be also able to allow Jesus to
resurrect dead people, would be able to let Moses win the Magicians’ magic with the holy
stick HE granted to Moses , and HE would also be able to allow the prophet Muhammad to
ascend to the Heaven where angels, saints and holy souls of other Prophets have already
been there!
Qur’an was revealed not only for Maccans but also to entire humanity since it is the
last call for humans and surely, there will be no more prophets after the last prophet
Muhammad.
3. Miracle of Splitting the Moon on Half in front of Unbelievers!
“The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split” (The verse, Moon 1)
The miracle of the splitting of the moon, which mentioned in the verse of the Qur’an above
occurred when the unbelievers challenged him to perform an impossible thing like splitting
the moon in half so that the prophet Muhammad would be belittled and his prophecy would
be falsified once the prophet Muhammad failed to split the moon.
How did the Miracle of the Splitting of the Moon occur?
The miracle of the splitting of the moon occurred with the permission of God before the
migration to Medina upon the demands of the unbelievers. The unbelievers challenged
the Prophet Muhammad by asking him,
“If you truly are a Prophet that has been appointed by God, then split the moon in
half. Let it be in such a way that one half will appear over the Mount Abu Qubais and
the other half will be seen over Mount Quayqian.”
God who split the read sea for Moses split the moon for HIS last prophet too.
Kl
5. The prophet Muhammad asked: “If I do it, will you become Muslims?”
The unbelievers answered: “Yes, we will.”
On the 14th night, when it was full moon, the prophet Muhammad prayed to God to grant
him the miracle which the unbelievers demanded from him. When the Gabriel informed the
prophet Muhammad that God had accepted his prayer, he announced it to the unbelievers
who witnessed the splitting of the moon on the 14th
night along with the companions of the
Prophet Muhammad. When Almighty God let the moon split in half, one half was over Mount
Abu Qubais and the other half over Mount Quayqian, the Prophet Muhammad shouted at
Muslims and unbelievers:
“Bear witness! Bear witness! So and so!”
But, the unbelievers said, “This is one of the spells of Abu Kabsha’s Son. The son
of Abu Kabsha cast a spell on you!” They said “Muhammad cast a spell on us!”
Some of them also said: “If Muhammad had cast a spell on us, then, he couldn’t
have cast a spell on everyone! Let us ask the travellers who had came from the
surrounding areas if they saw what we saw.”
They asked the people who came from every everywhere.
“Yes! We also did see the moon split in another location! We saw the moon as split!
Among the people who came from everywhere and seen the moon split, there was no one
who had not informed them about it. However, the unbelievers still rejected to be Muslims
and to believe in God by saying:
.
“This is a strong magic! And they said “Abu Talib’s orphan(the Prophet) affected
the sky with his spell!” .
Almighty God mentions this miracle in Qur’an in the chapter of MOON as well.
1. The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split.
2. Yet whenever they see a miracle, they turn away, and say, “Continuous magic.”
3. They lied, and followed their opinions, but everything has its time.
4. And there came to them news containing a deterrent.
5. Profound wisdom—but warnings are of no avail.
Upon seeing such a great miracle, unbelievers were supposed to believe in miracle and the
Prophet Muhammad, but non-believing minds and hearts of unbelievers were covered with
such a dark and deep blasphemy that even the stars were sorted out in order to write the.
Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of God, the unbelievers still would NOT believe it.
6. Today there is a trace of a cleft on the surface of the moon from the top to the bottom in
the middle of the moon. This cleft is a mile (a thousand and six hundred meters) wide; the
astronomers called it “Hadley Rille”. The research about that cleft done by Apollo-15 crew
was reported in the newspapers then. The picture of the cleft is shown below. The video of
the cleft(s) recorded by Apollo-15 crew can be watched in the following web address:

The RED SEA was split by God for Moses, dead people were resurrected by God
for Jesus, and why the moon would not be split into half by God for the prophet
Muhammad?
All Christians believe in God’s miracle surely that worked for Moses; He and his followers
miraculously went through Red Sea by walking! God who split the Red Sea would split
the moon as well.
A Brief Look at Prophet Muhammad’s recording of his Miracles
The prophet Muhammad’s miracles were narrated by his companies; the most trustable
ones and they had sharp memory.
Most of them occurred in the presence of large assemblies, and were narrated by many
truthful persons of good repute from among those present.
All the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad were narrated by his companies or his wives
later were recorded in books of Hadith which are called as Kutub-i Sitte consisted of 6
hadiths books with around 35000 sayings of the prophet Muhammad. kl
7. The revelations of God to Jesus was direct without any angel; That is why he is
named as a word of God; However revelations of God to the prophet was through the
angel Gabriel and The prophets’ sayings (hadiths) are the divine interpretations of
the verses in Qur’an.
Since the prophet Muhammad’s sayings are divine inspirations of God, his companies did
not miss out any words the prophet Muhammad said regarding Islam and rules and orders
and his miracles. They memorized and recorded them in to keep them authentic for future
generations. In other words, His sayings were the interpretation of the verses in Qur’an,
detailed rules and regulations of Islam, which Qur’an did not tell them in details.
His sayings were memorized, preserved and recorded in Hadith books through
numerous, perhaps uncountable, strong and trustworthy hands and minds, and
have reached the Muslims in safe and sound condition.
Since Prophet Muhammad’ s miracles are around 1000, we will present one or two for
each section. I was reminded that the sayings (hadiths) in Kutub-I Sitte are the authentic
ones and some other sayings that are not included Kutub-i Sitte are the fabricated ones
made up deliberately by unbelievers to distort Islam. I will give the narrator’s names who
witnessed the miracle for readers’ reference.
God who sent HIS last prophet with his best miracle, Qur’an to Humanity, would
protect both Qur’an and his last Prophet’s sayings from distortion and fabrication.
The Miracles Concerning the Increase in Food and Drink
We will give, in this part, a few examples out of many from the Prophet’s miracles that relate
to increase food.
The Miracle that was witnessed by a hundred and eighty people at the house of Abu
Ayyub al-Ansari; He brought some food for two people but after the prophet prayed on
food, it was increased to the amount for 180 people who ate the food and the food was still
not finished.
8. The increase of Jabir b. Abdullah’s crops of date enough for paying his debts.
The Prophet Muhammad prayed on the insufficient amount of dates of Jabir and they were
were increased to the enough amount to pay his debt back. Jabir was the son of Abdullah
who was killed in the battle with six daughters with a high loan.
The prophet’s miracle for him was a blessing of God. Jabir paid his debt the creditors
completely by weighing one by one. When he looked at the remaining crops, it looked
as if there was no decrease!
“Jabir, who had been thinking to return back without having any dates but having
paid back his father’s debts”, had now a total of seventeen loads of camels with dates!
The Feast given with a little food for a hundred and thirty people
Abdullah Rahman, narrates: “We, one hundred and thirty Companions, were with the
Noble Messenger on an expedition. Dough had been prepared to the amount of about four
handfuls (3 kg), a goat was slaughtered and cooked, and its liver and kidneys were roasted.
I swear by God that from that roasted meat, God’s Messenger gave a small piece to each of
us and put the cooked meat into two large bowls. After we had all eaten until we were filled
there was still some left over, which I loaded onto a camel.”
The Companions who are satisfied with a cup of milk
Abu Hurayra narrates: “Once I was hungry, so I followed the Noble Messenger into his
house. There we saw that a cup of milk had been brought as a gift. God’s Messenger said,
“Call all the People of the Bench!”
I said to myself,
“I could drink all the milk myself, as I was most in need of it.”
However, since it was God’s Messenger’s order, I fetched the People of the Bench, who
numbered more than a hundred. God’s Messenger told me to offer milk to them. I gave the
cup to each one by one, and each drank until satisfied. At the end, the Messenger told me,
‘The rest is for me and you.’
As I drank, God’s Messenger kept telling me to drink more, until I said,
“I swear by the Glorious One who sent you with the truth that I am too full to drink
any more.” Then God’s Messenger drank the rest.
9. Miracles on Water
The Flowing of Water from the Prophet’s Hand like a Fountain 1
Enes narrates:
“Along with the apostle of God, we were in a place called Zavra with about three hundred
companions. He ordered us to take ablution for the afternoon prayer but we could not find
any water. He ordered us to find a little water; we found and brought it to Him. He dipped his
blessed hands into this water. I saw that water was flowing from his fingers like a fountain.
Then, three hundred people who were there came and had ablution and used that water
for their other needs.
The Flowing of Water from his Hand like a Fountain 2
The people were left without water on the Day of Hudaybiya. A group of people came to the
Apostle of God while he was having ablution from the pitcher. The Apostle of God asked
them:
“What happened to you?” They answered:
“We are ruined O Apostle of God! We are ruined O Apostle of God!”
The prophet Muhammad said: “You will not be ruined when I am among you!”
“O Apostle of God! We have no water left for having ablution or drinking other
than the pitcher you have!”
Upon this, the Apostle of God put his hand over the pitcher and said;
“Here you are, In the name of God”.
Water was flowing from his fingers like bubbling from a wellspring! Muslims both drank
water from it and had the ablution.Jabir said : “We were a thousand and five hundred!
10. The Flowing of Water from his Hand like a Fountain 3
This is a miracle occurred in Buwat Expedition. Jabir narrates:
“The Apostle of God ordered His companions, “Tell them to have ablution.” However
the companions informed Him that there was no any water.
The Apostle of God said to them “Find me a little water”.
We brought him a little water. Then he put his hand over that little water and recited
something. I had no idea about what he recited. Then, he said: “Bring me the big water
reservoir of the caravan.”
They brought it to me and I put it in front of the Apostle of God. He put his hand into that
and opened his fingers. I was pouring that little water onto his blessed hand. I saw that too
much water flew from his fingers and the water reservoir was full. I called those who
needed water. All of them came, had ablution and drank from it. And I said to him “There is
no one left.” The Apostle of God raised his hand; that water reservoir remained full.”
The Miracles concerning the sick and the wounded being healed
I will mention a few instances of the miracles out of many.
The healing of blind eyes
Uthman B. Hunayf said: “A blind man came to God’s Noble Messenger and said:
‘Pray so that my eyes may be healed and I may see!’ The Prophet said,
“Go and take the ablutions, then pray and say: O God! I beseech you and I turn to
you, for the sake of the Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of Mercy. O Muhammad!
I turn to your Sustainer, for your sake and through you, asking that He uncover my
sight. O God, make him my intercessor!”
He did that and we saw that his eyes had opened and he could see very well.
11. An insane Child
Abbas said: “An insane child was brought to the Noble Messenger. He placed his
blessed hand on the child’s chest and the child suddenly vomited a small black object
like a cucumber. The child was healed and went home.”
A child who was not young but was mute came to the Noble Messenger. He asked
the child:
“Who am I?”
The child, who had been mute from birth, replied: “You are the Messenger of God,”
and started to speak.
A shameless woman, who was like a child, asked for a piece of the food God’s
Messenger was eating. He gave her some, but she said: “No, I want a piece from
your mouth.” So he gave her a piece, and, after eating the morsel, she became the
most modest and bashful woman in Madina.
The Miracles Shown on Animals
It is the miracle in which the two pigeons, without flying away waited in front of the cave
where the prophet Muhammad and his loyal friend Ebu Bakr sheltered in order to be safe
from the pursuit of unbelievers and a spider covered the entrance of the cave with a
wonderful thick net.
One unbeliever said “Let us enter the cave”, The other answered them:
“How can we enter? I see a web; it looks as if it was made before the birth of the
Prophet Muhammad. There are two pigeons standing there. If there was somebody
there, they would fly off and spider net would be broken.
12. Messenger Muhammad came in a garden and saw a Camel. Camel started making
sounds and tears welled from his eyes. The prophet approached camel and comforted him
by patting its head. Camel stopped crying. The prophet rebuked camel’s owner and said,
“ Don’t you fear of God? This camel complaint about you; it said you were overloading
it and you don’t feed it well”
T The owner admitted what he did and he said he would not do it again!
Some animals that testified the cause of the Prophet Muhammad and obeyed Him.
It is narrated from Umar “An uneducated man came to the Messenger Muhammad. He was
holding a lizard. He said: ‘If this reptile testifies to you, I shall believe in you; otherwise
I will not.’ God’s Messenger asked the lizard, and it testified to his prophet hood”
Since prophets are the messengers of God who created all animals , it is quite normal
that some prophets are allowed to talk to animals like Solomon, Abraham or Muhammad
through God’s will!
The Resurrection of a dead girl and her talking with the Prophet Muhammad
Hasan Basri narrates; A man came weeping to God’s Messenger. He said:
“I had a little girl; she drowned in such-and-such stream nearby. I left her there”
God’s Messenger pitied the man and said they would go there together. They went,
and the Messenger called to the dead girl, saying her name.
At once, the dead girl replied: ‘I am present and answer your call gladly.’
God’s Messenger asked her: ‘Do you want to return to your father and mother?’
She replied: ‘No, I have found something better here!’
The Resurrection of a dead man
Enes Bin M. narrates: “An elderly woman had a single son who had suddenly died. The
righteous woman was very grieved and prayed: “O God, I left my home and migrated
here only to obtain Your pleasure and to pay allegiance to God’s Noble Messenger
and to serve him. For the sake of Your Messenger, return my son to me, who was
the only person to look after me.” Enes said:
“The dead man rose up, came and ate with us.”
13. Closing part
There are also more miracles shown by him some of which are presented in Qur’an and a
great majority of which are reported in history and in his sayings books like the prophesies
about future that came true. Every prophet showed miracles. However not every prophet
showed miracles in every subject. The prophet Muhammad was supported by all kinds
of miracles as a last prophet and as a last chance for humans to believe in God’s existence.
As we stated in the beginning of this chapter that miracles are supposed to be considered
and thought by the eyes of our faith not with the eyes of our mind. God who created entire
infinite like universe with millions of planets and stars and galaxies, indeed, would be able
to split Moon in half as well to support his Last prophet Muhammad – the same way HE
supported other holy prophets Noah, Abraham Solomon Moses and Jesus through HIS
miracles to lead their people to believe in them.
.
I will end my presentation with the last miracle of the Prophet Muhammad, Last Speech of
him who made it in Makka in during his last Pilgrimage before he passed away. I will let you
judge yourself how much he is concerned and worried about the problems humans will have
in future and how he tries his best to warn humanity against them.
6. Last Speech of the Last Prophet, Muhammad
"O People, listen well to my words, for I do not know whether, after this year, I shall
ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully
and take these words to those who could not be present today.
O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard
the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods
entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Treat others justly so that no one would
be unjust to you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will
indeed reckon your deeds.
Those who have something that does not belong to them should return it to
owners God has forbidden you to take interest, therefore all interest obligations
and kinds shall henceforth be waived. But If you have to pay back the exact
amount of money you loaned, you will neither hurt someone nor let someone
hurt you. God has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interests
due to `Abbas ibn `Abd al Muttalib shall henceforth be waived.”
Today’s one of the major problems is that “you work but I earn.” At the time of the
prophet “loan-sharking was a common way to extort people; When those who loaned
money from loan-sharkers were unable to pay their debt on time, loan-sharks
maliciously were grasping the debtor’s son or daughter as a slave in return for the debt.
Today, loan-sharkers kill the debtors who fail to pay their debt back.
14. This evil practic reminds us of giving a regular yearly donation to poor people is a
must. This is a pillar of Islam, and actually it existed in Christianity as well. If this
regular “donation” is given properly, there will be neither poor people nor loan sharks.
“Every right arising out of bloodsheeding in pre-Islamic days is henceforth
waived and the first such right that I waive is that arising from the murder of
Rabi`ah ibn al Harith ibn `Abd al Muttalib.”
This part is about “blood-shedding among tribes” Today this ugly justification of
killing each other turned out to be happening among nations (it is so-called ethnic
cleansing), races, religions and among people. We, people of the world, suffered
enough through so many killings whatever justification is for it.
The same God created us and put us on the earth and gave us guidance -Holy
hooks- along with holy guides – the prophets. So why do we hate each other?
The solution is that we should have a mutual respect, understanding and
accepting to one another in all believers.
Today, the devil lost his power and influence on you on this land but you
shouldn’t get back to those things. Beware of the devil, for the safety of your
religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big
things, so beware of following him in small things.
Devil’s plans are always on; It stirred up the trouble among nations and sometimes
among people. Devil used man’s desires, and weaknesses to mislead him. The
Prophet Muhammad warns us again about devil that will continuously try to drag us
into hell with TEMPTATIONS like lust, being greedy, getting revenge, merciless,
jealousy and so on. Devil will never give up on humanity until Doomsday.
O People, it is true that you have certain rights over your women, but they also
have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only
under God's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then they
have the right to be fed and clothed in kindness.
Treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and
committed helpers. It is your right and they do not make friends with anyone
of whom you do not approve.
Today, family disputes, beating of wives, divorces are also major problems of the
society and there is still no solution to it. The prophet Muhammad warned us about
this problem and showed the solution 1400 hundreds ago through his clear message:
.
“You have taken your wives under God’s trust and permission”
That is, if we treat our wives badly God will see it and will pnish us since all the
marriages are under God’s vow! If married couples are aware that God is the
witness to their marriages, spouses dare not to be unfair and bad to each other.
15. In fact the only thing that will solve our problems is the Love of God. And fear of
God nad Love of should be balanced in our hearts. We can’t say I am saved
and I can commit sins because God will forgive me or being hopless that God
will not forgive my sins.
O People, listen to me in earnest, worship God and perform your five daily
prayers, fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your financial obligation
,alms, of your wealth. Perform pilgrimagej if you can afford to.
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab
nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has surely no
superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over white except by
piety and good action.
And this is the most crucial point that the prophet Muhammad emphasized the racisim
& discrimination. We are all equal but our superiority depends on how pious we are
in the presence of God. This is the miracle cure and solution to all discrimination
problems.
Remember, one day you will appear before God and you will account for your
deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.
O People, no prophet or messenger will come after me and no new faith will be
born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words, which I convey
to you.
I am leaving you the Book of God (the Qurân) and my Sunnah (the life style and
the behavioral mode of the Prophet), If you follow them you will never go astray.
All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others
again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen
to me directly. Be my witness O God, that I have conveyed your message to your
people.
Since the prophet Muhammed is considered as the last prophet, he addressed all
humans and nations, both in his time and future. The prophet Muhammad delivered
his last speech as a last recipe to human spirutual sicknesses as the same way other
prophets, Abraham, David, Moses, and Jesus did in their time with related problems
of their own people. But since no prophets will come after him, the prophet Muhammad
pictured the Man’s future problems in his time and the problems that will happen in
future, and he gave the clear solutions and ways to get rid of them through his divine
inspirations.
Dear readers, I tried my best to find out the accurate information about the prophet
Muhammad and I leave you with your own common sense and judgment. I believe and
pray in my heart that God can inspire you about the plain truth and you can make yoour
own decision whether Muhammad is the messenger of God or not.
