The dance has been influenced by many cultures, but it originated in Cuba. The Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Puerto Rico have all had some influence on the dance. There are many different styles of salsa that vary by location: Cuban-style salsa, Columbian style-salsa, L.A.-style salsa, New York-style salsa, Puerto-Rican style salsa, and Casino Reudo- style salsa.
