student :
Develop fluency through role-play, communicative exercises, and pronunciation, using

wider range of vocabulary.

match specific situations.
• Develop the comprehension skills through regular and
progressive comprehension exercises using a wide range of
methods and authentic recordings.

approach and by using progressive exercises in situations.

7. A questionnaire is submitted to the student
before his arrival in Rennes.
It is very important for us to co-ordinate our
teaching with any previous training as this
increases the efficiency and effectiveness of our
work.
We will endeavour to arrange contacts with local
business, politicians, charities, non-
governmental organisations, and local or
national government departments.
This is a very important part of the training as it
allows the student to understand the political,
economic and cultural differences in France.
Langue & Communication
8. • Specific methods of French as a foreign language
• Audio and video recording, either specific to FLE or authentic with
individual work aids
• Authentic written articles
• Authentic Internet documents
• CD ROM's
• Free access to internet and lap-top provided if necessary
Langue & Communication
9. We have a team of teachers, all of whom
are highly qualified (masters degrees in
teaching French as a foreign language), with
several years experience in teaching
professionals.
Langue & Communication
We consider it very important to meet formally at
the end of every week to co-ordinate our programs
and exchange thoughts on the student's progress in
order to optimise the training.
We have been involved in publishing teaching
material and are regularly involved in overseas
projects.
10. We have links with local government administration; and have established an interesting
network which allows us, during the course, to introduce the students to French professionals
from a similar background and to arrange contacts with politicians, local/national government
departments (conseil régional, général, municipalité, administrations) in order to provide them
with means of understanding the political, economical, social and cultural environment.
Langue & Communication
We prepare these meetings (language, questions, briefing on the company, etc…) but are
purposely not present at the encounter.
12. Langue & Communication
This is arranged in the house of a carefully selected family, on a half-board basis
during the week, full board at the weekend.
We try to match the host family to the student's interests and profession when
possible.
The house is comfortable : single room with private bathroom when possible.
The hostess will take care of the laundry. An evening meal is served every day,
and offers the opportunity to become involved in French "way of life". During the
weekend, the host family organises outings to "discover" the region.
The host family offers the ideal environment, in which the student can
communicate in the French language exploiting the skills and confidence that the
course will generate.

15. • Rennes is a dynamic city with a strong cultural tradition.
• Rennes has found the balance between modernism and history :
• a futurist station for the TGV
• a 16th century old town ; extensive pedestrianised streets and squares.
• Rennes' leading industries are electronics, communications and information technology,
visual arts, bio industry and high technology engineering.
• Rennes' cultural reputation is based upon its universities and colleges, which together
draw some 30 000 students to the city ; its music (rock and classical) ; its cinemas (over
twenty), and an extensive range of annual festivals.

JA, UK Representation to the European Union, Brussels, FCO.
« Merci mille fois !
A, FCO.
