What is Cloud computing?

6. Definition
• Cloud computing is the use of computing
resources (hardware and software) that are
delivered as a service over the internet.

7. Analogy
• Old-School / Non-cloud: An electricity
generator, with its requirements for
space, hardware, petrol, etc., is old-
school, or non-cloud.
• Cloud: Plugging something into the
mains, and paying a monthly
electricity bill only for what you use, is
the ‘cloud’ way of getting your
electricity.
