1. LawCrossing.com Finds 58,000 Jobs as Legal Industry Sees Small Increase in
Number of Jobs
The legal industry has been able to add around 2,000 net jobs in March. But LawCrossing.com
has been able to track down 58,000 job openings in the industry so far.
Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) April 09, 2013 -- The latest jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that
the legal sector added 2,000 jobs in March. This number is supposed to be the highest one-month gain for the
industry in nearly a year and the highest increase so far this year.
LawCrossing.com, which focuses only on legal industry jobs, has been able to find 58,000 job openings as of
April 9. The Am Law Daily states that the total number of people employed by the legal industry was 1,126,900
as of March 2013, an increase of 9,000 over March 2012.
The job openings on LawCrossing.com also show that while the job openings have not reached their pre-
recession levels, there are still thousands of jobs across the country. LawCrossing.com CEO Harrison Barnes
says that this is because even though the figure for the net jobs created may not be high, there are always
vacancies among the nation’s law firms and legal departments in organizations.
He adds, “The reason that we keep showing so many job openings is that we keep tracking all the major and
minor law firms across the country and the other organizations that employ attorneys and other legal staff. And
our researchers have shown that even in this market there are still plenty of legal jobs."
The site has been able to track down 2,494 law student job openings, 118 judicial clerkships and 857 summer
associate positions. There are 31,977 attorney jobs and another 1,453 are partner opportunities. There are also
13,784 legal staff job listings on the site.
