2. Throughout the whole of our project we came to
the understanding that taking on audience
feedback will help us get the best out come for
our work. We collected our feedback in various
ways such as sending our surveys via survey
monkey, texting people screen shots of our
ancillary tasks, showing a viewing of our music
video to a random group of people and also
posting it on social networking sites for a wider
variety of comments (although all were very
positive).
3. As previously shown in my blog this is one way we collected audience feedback. It
was a very effective way as we could reach contact with people very easily and
quickly. From this we learnt that everyone seemed to like our simple design using
a limited range of colours as in this case we believe less is more. We used pink as
it is a connotation of being girly and the black and white to give it a subtle yet
classy look making it stand out to our target audience.
4. We also decide a good way to collect information was by
showing our finished music video to a group of randomly
selected people both in our target audience and also
outside of this category this was to get a good range of
opinions. We let our peers watch the video then got them
to write down one thing they thought worked well and
one piece of constructive criticism.
Here’s what they had to say…

6. We found the previous comments really useful as it helped us to understand
what could have being done to improve our final outcome even more. Some of
the comments we agreed with more than some.
For example, the picture on the left is a screen shot used early on in our video
taken with a Sony Handycam whereas the picture on the right was recorded
with a Nikon highlighting the quality difference. We knew from this that our
audience would more than likely pick up on it which they did although we did
intentionally have the setting dark to give it more of a ‘club’ vibe.
7. Overall we were really pleased with our audience feedback from
the people that have seen our video. The majority of the
comments are very positive although we had a few constructive
criticisms though we really appreciate these also as it gives us a
focus point on what could have being improved although the
majority of the time we feel these problems were out of our
control such as not having access to top quality cameras at the
start of our filming process.
By taking on feedback throughout our A2 coursework journey it
has given us confidence for creating videos in the future as we
have a better knowledge of what our audience want. We have
learnt that as media students we need to adapt to our target
audience and follow expected conventions to make sure our target
audience can understand the narrative and appreciate why certain
shots etc are used although this was more than often done.
This is what we have learnt from our audience feedback.
