2. My First print skill
My first print skill is going to be the
shapes tool using InDesign, this allowed
me to put everything I wanted in my
newspaper in the correct order and
layout as to how the newspaper would
finally look.
Using this tool I was able to put
everything I wanted in the correct
proportions so on the first page of my
newspaper I was able to have
everything in a layout which looked
more professional and realistic as to a
local newspaper.
3. Second print skill
My second print skill in my opinion was the
resizer tool for all images and objects, this
made it easier to get everything in one
space on the newspaper and make it look
more professional like a real newspaper.
The resizer tool has meant that I can resize
all objects and images on my first page of
my newspaper, this means that I can make
everything fit into the space and make it
look more professional.
4. Third print skill
‘File and place’
Doing file and place in my newspaper on
my second page was something I found
myself doing quite a lot and was actually
a big part of getting the correct
formatted images into my newspaper.
On my second page of my newspaper I
have 6 images which have all needed to
be edited in Photoshop and then placed
onto my newspaper on a new layer.
5. Fourth print skill
Adding colour to layers is my
fourth print skill, this is because it
can be a tricky process as there is
no distinct button or anything to
click to add colour to layers which
for someone starting on InDesign
for the first time it can be very
tricky.
To add colour to a layer you have
to start by clicking on the layer you
want to add colour to, you then
click on the swatches tab next to
layers and double click on the
colour you want in your layer and
click ok.
6. Fifth Print skill
My fifth and final print skill is how I used
the font tool to make my first letter of a
word in capitals which is a convention of
newspapers and makes the newspaper
look more realistic.
The way you do this is on the top of the
tool bar in InDesign and you can use an
arrow to choose how much you want the
letter to go up by and this can be based
on your decision as to how realistic you
want it to look.
