- 12. My Neighbor Totoro Made in 1988 by Studio Ghibli. The story is about two young girls and their father who move to the countryside. Their mother is bedridden in a nearby hospital. The girls befriend a family of woodland creatures. Mei, mispronouncing the word “troll” from the Three Billy-Goats Gruff, calls the creatures Totoros. This is a Japanese wordplay pun.

- First Bullet: In the 60s and 70s when anime first came over, such as Speed Racer, it was also referred to as Japanime.
- Similar to the anime Yakitate Japan, Pan is the word for bread in Japanese. So the boy sets out to make Japan, Japanese bread made in Japan. Puns are huge, and they are seen as one of the top forms of comedy. Totoro was even featured in Toy Story 3, an example of Japanese anime breaching into American films.
