Two of Loni’s noteworthy achievements include performing as a background studio singer for famed Detroit
recording artist, Carl Carleton, and singing lead for noted Detroit singing group, “Phase 5”. Here’s her story…
BEGINNINGS
Loni’s singing career began during grade school. Her mother was a background singer for The Dells and her
uncle was the manager so family “singing circles” with the sounds of Doo-Wap were commonplace at their home.
Loni watched, learned and was invited to sing along – but only if she could stay on key. In the process she
gained valuable vocal training and rehearsal skills. It was great foundation for things to come.
As a teen, Loni developed her singing as a member of the choir at her grandmother’s church. She later joined
the high school marching band where she received formal musical training and played the flute.

PROFESSIONAL CAREER
After high school, Loni met up with a group of
singers at an automotive factory and began
rehearsing with them. Their harmonies were
flawless and their music arrangements were
hot. They eventually decided to form a group
and Loni became the lead singer. That put her
on the music map in Detroit and got her noticed
by not only fans, but also by musicians and
promoters who began hiring her for gigs.
“Ever since I saw my mom sing with The Dells,
I wanted to be a singer and perform at major
venues around Detroit. I love being up on stage
and I especially love entertaining people.”

PERFORMANCES
With her throaty voice and powerful vocals, Loni became a go-to
girl – singing for various bands. She played all the cozy spots like
Nikki’s in Greektown, Friend’s, Kola’s, Encore, Gina’s, and Jazz
Katz. But she also landed major gigs at prestigious venues like
The Gem Theatre, The Jazz Café at Music Hall, The Motor City
Casino, Andiamo, and The Hyatt Regency Hotel.
As she toured these venues, Loni spanned a wide variety of
music genres. She sang Jazz Standards, Blues, Soul, Motown,
Neo-Soul, and Top 40. Like a chameleon, she could change
musical colors and satisfy any audience with the music they
loved.
Loni describes her greatest moment on stage…
“I was singing lead for Phase 5 at The Motor City Casino. The
house was packed, I was wearing a beautiful ballroom gown, my
vocals were warm, and mike was crystal clear. The band began
playing “Wishing On A Star”. The guys began doing some cool
choreography around me while the audience cheered my vocals.
It was a magical moment for me. I’ll never forget it. Living that
special moment is precisely why I became a singer.”
RECORDINGS
In 2008, Loni released her first album
entitled, “Luv Somebody”, a direct play on
her stage surname. The songs were so well
received that they were placed in rotation on
107.5 FM radio.
Her second album entitled, “Luv Language”,
is currently in production and features the
song “Surrender” which draws from personal
experiences in Loni’s life.
“Music is an expression of life and love and I
always like to share my experiences, my
philosophy and my inner soul with my fans.”
Love is a recurring theme in Loni Luv music.

3. THE OTHER DIMENSIONS OF LONI LUV
In addition to singing, Loni has been involved in community affairs in an
effort to “give back” to those in need. She has worked with The United
Way of Michigan as well as Habitat for Humanity to help raise people up –
just as she does with mike in hand when she performs on stage.
Professionally, Loni earned a degree in engineering from The University of
Phoenix and works full time as an automotive seating engineer. You could
say that her goal is to make people comfortable in their cars as much as
she wants to make them comfortable in their seats at venues she sings at!
THE ENTERTAINER
The true measure of a singer is not just how much an audience applauds
you when you perform, it’s also the personal comments they make to you
after the show. Fans come up to Loni to say, “You are a true powerhouse”
and “You brought the house down” and “I get bored easily but that was

Loni Luv has that special magic that makes audiences everywhere
