2. Close ups
There are several close ups of the band members during the music video.
This is done because of the demand from the record companies to include
lots of close ups which will make the band more recognisable to people.
There is also close ups of them playing there instruments.
3. Playing instruments
The band members are playing live music which is a
convention for this genre of music.
The camera also shows close ups of the band members
playing there instruments. Trevor Millum studied how men
are represented in the media. From his research he found
out that men are represented either as: Seductive,
Carefree, Practical, Comic and Catalogue. In this video
men are being represented as practical because they are
being skilful in playing their instruments.
4. The audience
Throughout the music video the camera will pan across
to show the audience. This has been done to show the
audiences reaction the band preforming. For this
genre of music it is common feature that the band is
playing live and there is frequent shot of the audience.
5. Camera effects
In the video camera effects have been used to
symbolise the use of drugs. The idea of drug use in
this video is also supported when the camera cuts
to the toilets and suggests drugs being used.
6. Product placement
Businesses and brands use product
placement to advertise their brand. If
the audience is a band using their
products they will be influenced to
purchase the product because they will
think they will be like the band
members.
