activism and the use of
marijuana and hallucinogens
such as LSD and other drugs
with the intent to achieve
altered states of
consciousness, in fact a form of
rebellion by the homogeneity
of concepts offered by the
system.

6. Like all movements this is also
expressed in fashion, art and music,
being a reference the famous
Woodstock festival held on a farm in
upstate New York between 15 to
August 17, 1969. Thousands of young
people went to this event "three days
of peace and love" to listen to singers
like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, The Who,
Janis Joplin and Jimmy Hendrix,
among others.

faded: floral shirts or very colorful
long skirts, bell bottoms. It also
inspired non-Western dress styles,
like clothes Native American,
Indian and African, and adopted
as the flower symbols or motifs of
American Indians. Many hippies
were fashioned their own clothes,
in protest at the "consumer culture"
