16. Medical App Co Creation Center:
The Medical App Co Creation Center (MAC3) was launched in 2013 as a project in the University Medical Center of
Utrecht. At MAC3 we believe digital health and the patient data revolution is dramatically changing the way we do
healthcare, and our goal is to accelerate innovation in this area by:
• Providing a center of gravity for digital health innovation to faculty, staff and students of the
University Medical Center Utrecht;
• Validating the functionality and accuracy of new digital health solutions,
devices, sensors and apps and evaluate their value for patients and the healthcare system;
• Setting up digital health innovation projects by connecting entrepreneurs
with clinicians and pilot environments (including healthcare providers and patients);
• Incubating new mobile health solutions (including sensors and apps) and bring
them to market in collaboration with our network of start-ups, industry (including creative and gaming), healthcare
providers, insurance companies and funding partners;
Our services for digital health entrepreneurs include:
• Project creation and matchmaking between entrepreneurs, clinicians, pilot environments;
• Digital Health innovation projects (including insights gathering, ideation, concept development, prototyping, business
development)
• Temporary digital health acceleration labs;
• (Early) Health Technology Assessments;
• Clinical trials for digital health solutions;
• Proof of concept investment fund in collaboration with our funding partners;
