Canada is a very large country with many cultural traditions
and celebrations come from their native influences. That is
why there are a lots of different Christmas traditions in
Canada although their festivities are quite similar to the
American parties. In places like Labrador and Nova Scotia
people wear masks and visit houses during the twelve days of
Christmas miming, making noises, ringing bells and asking
for candies. The mummers stop acting weird since hosts
guess their identities correctly. Every member of the family
makes their own kind of cookies and exchanges them with the
other members. January 6th, in the province of Quebec there
is a tradition called “La Fete dy Roi”. They bake a cake with a
bean in it. The person who discovers the bean, he or she will
be the king or the queen in the house for the whole day. This
is similar to our Spanish tradition.
