3. Twitter
• Is a microblogging
and social networking
services on which
user post and interact
with messages known
as “tweets”
• launched in 2008
• “The punch line
initially was what are
you doing write now”.
4. History of twitter
• The first twitter prototype, developed by
dorsey and contractor florian weber, was
used as an internal services for odeo
employees and the full version was
introduced publicly on july 15, 2006
• Twitter started at a podcasting company
Odeo. The company board members
had a "daylong brainstorming session."
During the meeting, Jack Dorsey
introduced the idea of one person using
an SMS service to communicate with a
small group. At first, they called this
project "twttr".
• It fit the five-character length of American
SMS short codes and sounded like
"Flickr". At first, the developers planned
to use "10958" as a short code. Later
they changed it to "40404" because it
was easier to remember and type.
5. History
• Dorsey sent the first Twitter message at 9:50 PM
Pacific Standard Time (PST) March 21, 2006. The first
tweet was, "just setting up my twttr."
• Twitter started becoming very popular after the 2007
South by Southwest (SXSW) festival. During the event,
Twitter usage increased from 20,000 tweets per day to
60,000.
• The Twitter company set up two very large computer
screens in the hallways at the conference.
• These screens only showed Twitter messages.
Hundreds of people at the conference checked on what
each other were doing by looking at the many tweets.
6. History
• Panelists and speakers talked about Twitter. Bloggers
at SXSW described it to others in a very positive way.
• Reaction at the festival was very good. Blogger Scott
Beale said that Twitter "absolutely rul[ed]" SXSW.
Social software researcher Danah Boyd said Twitter
"own[ed]" the festival.
• Twitter staff won the festival's Web Award prize.
They said, "we'd like to thank you in 140 characters
or less. And we just did!"
7. Twitter marketing
• Is to drive sale,
generate sale, boost
clicks, and increase
downloads. creats post
to drive these action,
when used sparingly,
can boost your
engagement in huge
ways.
• Adding a CTA to a few
tweets is the quickest
way to do this.

engaging content.

schedule for your
post

impact and result.
9. How Twitter Is Unique
What makes Twitter
unique from other social
media platforms is it's
immediacy. Users are
able to bear witness to,
report, and comment on
global events almost in
real time.
10. How Twitter Is Unique
• This is probably the biggest tragedy of the current
troubles at the mico-blog giant - if Twitter's forced to
change how it operates and/or reduce its capacity to be
a measure of what's happening, always and anytime,
then it's not just Jack Dorsey and Twitter's shareholders
that'll lose out. It's everyone.
• The data provided by Twitter, and the insights we're able
to glean from them, can be truly world-changing, in more
ways than most people realize.
• Twitter's strength is real-time. No other social platform
comes close on this front. While Facebook is trying to
compete and Snapchat offers a unique perspective on
the theme, Twitter remains our best indicator of the wider
pulse of the world and what's happening within it.
11. How Twitter Is Unique
• While the main stories you hear about the
platform are Kanye West asking Mark
Zuckerberg for a billion dollars or Donald
Trump quoting facist dictators, there's far
more to Twitter than celebrity gossip.
• It's a significant part, for sure, but there's
much more value to be gained from
tweets.
• And the more people use it, the higher
than value becomes.
12. Growth
• The company
experienced rapid
initial growth. It had
400,000 tweets
posted per quarter in
2007.
• This grew to 100
million tweets posted
per quarter in 2008.
In February 2010,
Twitter users were
sending 50 million
tweets per day.
13. Slow growth of twitter
• On February 11, 2015,
Twitter announced that
it had acquired
Niche, Later in the year
it became apparent that
growth had slowed.
• Twitter still has a
growth problem
• It's making money, but
can't seem to recruit big
numbers of new users.
14. How to Use Twitter For Business
