This video was a documentary where the people are blind and each person drew
what they feel the object looked like. The interviewer then asked how they feel to
be blind. They spoke describing the steps they were taking while painting for the
audience to understand.

How does this video installation make you feel and why? Are there any
parts to the video that you find difficult to understand (Give specific
example) How has the video been created what techniques have they used?
Observe people in front of the video how are they behaving? Are they
engaged? How do you think the video could be improved?
It is a very sad video sequence because we see the people being blind and they
provide artistic work but they can’t see what they have drawn. As the audience
watches the video, it creates sadness for us to see what other people that are

2. blind feel. It creates sympathy for the people because they can’t see the objects
and they have to use their imagination for them to create the artistic work.

It is about young workers that work in factories in the time of economic growth
and social changes in China.

How does this video installation make you feel and why? Are there any
parts to the video that you find difficult to understand (Give specific
example) How has the video been created what techniques have they used
? Observe people in front of the video how are they behaving? Are they
engaged? How do you think the video could be improved?
I think this video is related to people that suffer while working in Chinese
factories. The techniques that are used in the documentary are mid shots, and
long shots. We see different people working as part of their daily lives. There
were people sleeping in their flats, people playing piano and guitar and working
in the factory. The video installation made me feel wonder and surprise in how
people live their lives in China.

This video is about oil being poured onto sugar cubes, which dissolve, making
the two products mix together and causing the sugar cube structure to fall down
and collapse.
How does this video installation make you feel and why? Are there any
parts of the video that you find difficult to understand (Give specific
example) How has the video been created what techniques have they used?

engaged? How do you think the video could be improved?
Can’t find any video work? Each level has it’s own video installation piece,
ask a member if the team to point you in the right direction.
When I first saw the video, I didn’t understand what was going on, when the oil
was dropped down onto the sugar structure and mixing together. However, after
reading the information about the installation, I began to understand what the

4. creator was doing, and the juxta position of the sugar and the oil, the black and
white colours and the solid and liquid forms. The technique that was used to
create the video was very easy as it was a single camera shot recording the scene
as the oil dropping down to the sugar cube. I think it can be improved by having
more of a story to it, and by having more meaning. Without the information,
viewers could not understand the purpose of the video.

We can see a robot made from vintage equipment showing different video clips.
The video clips show robots flying around.

? Observe people in front of the video how are they behaving? Are they
engaged? How do you think the video could be improved?
When I first saw the installation it made feel wonder to see the different video
clips in the different sections, showing the same footage. The robot was made
from vintage radios, which were piled up together to create a robot figure. I think
this idea is interesting because he has used vintage technology to create a vision
of the future.
