small gray leafs with tiny petioles 
• Scraggly looking shrub that appears gray 
• Rigid thorn like branches 
• Flowers white or yellow borne in loose 
clusters
Ecology 
• Found on gravely and rocky soil 
• Very common on west side, Rogue River, 
Butte Falls, and Jenny Creek areas 
• A major component of chaparral 
• Important winter browse for deer 
• Great habitat for Mountain quail
