This is the presentation I made at Ravello Lab 2014, within the Panel "Place-shaping and designing creative ecosystems to make territories competitive". SLIDE 1 I'm an entrepeneur of the creative industry sector I'm in the local board of the CNA Association in Ravenna, my town, and I'm also Regiona President of Young Entrepeneurs of the same Association I'm also a member of Ravenna2019 creative council The bRAIn, is a project in progress and in its first stage of development (thanks to CNA that has adopted it :-); it's a project that was also part of our Ravenna 2019 bid book. It's a complicated project as it insists on three different levels: creation of a creative ecosystem (keywords: community, coworking, contamination, cross-fertilization, cross-pollination, sharing economy, product design, startup, innovation) urban regeneration (keywords: reuse and reconversion of disused warehouses) economic restart of the territory (smart community, glocal projects, city branding, economic renaissance) The bRAin is a place/project tailormade for those entrepeneurs that conceive the fact of sharing spaces as an opportunity for growing and innovating (both themselves and the territory) I'm thinking about enterprises that want to share know-how, that invest on product and service design, that encourage the creation of innovative startup, enterprises that are glocal and could nurture the local smart community. The bRAin will be a place in which different enterprises involved in the process should also work at integrated projects for culture, tourism and territory SLIDE 2 This is an image of our Darsena area; The Darsena is the old harbour that joins the city and the Adriatic sea together, 140 hectares for the city’s future. Darsena is definitely the place in which we can shape and perform our creative Ravenna, with the awareness that a city that wants to become authentically creative should rely on its unique and unrepeatable cultural identity, and darsena is part of it! If Design assumes a keyrole, then there will be place for creative people and the world will be better!) a good, strong and fruitful relationship among different actors of the territory (the world of education -university, high school, primary school- should dialogue with the entrepeneurial world) SLIDE 5 Well, as I'm just at the beginning, hope to receive feedbacks from the other participants, but the first problem I'm facing is: does the place come first or after the community creation?
